Next up for the character designs, meet Endan Hizutomi! He's Captain of the Bloodguard, and Rhys's personal bodyguard. I had a very solid idea of how he dressed. I just needed to figure out whether I wanted him to be a baby-faced idol type, or a rugged samurai type. You can see where I landed.

Here's the design page for my vampire king, Rhys Valentine. Rhys acts like a lazy, apathetic slob as a way to hide just how much he cares about his kingdom and the people in it, from vampire to human to hunter to witch. It also makes his political opponents underestimate him. 😈

I finally finished a thing! This was the piece I planned to do for #mermay, but...well. I may just be one of the slowest artists in existence. 😅 Had some serious struggles with this one, but I pushed through, and I'm so glad I did! I'm really proud of it.

Here's a look at my character design process for Cadi! What I knew about her going into this: - Pinkish brown hair in a jellyfish cut. - Adorable girly-girl - Loves pink The major focus was on figuring out her fashion aesthetic. I ended up pretty heavily inspired by the mori girl style.

Progress! I finally (had to finish up that Dreams in Blood cover art, first) got around to finishing the line art (digital), printed it out, transferred it, and started the base line work. The paint-by-number marks are very useful. Because too many squiggly lines gets confusing. 😅

It's Mermay! I might not draw a mermaid every day this month, but I would like to do a piece to honor the tradition. Here's the rough sketch for that. I was originally planning to do this as a mixed media piece, but now I'm wondering if I should just stick with digital. 🤔

Was working on adding a new scene to Dreams in Blood today and described this little guy, so of course I had to draw him. I'll probably do a colored digital version later. (Yes, that is absolutely a cup of boba tea with blood-filled popping boba, because vampires. 😅)

And Cadi is done! I hope to do more character art as I gear up for the release of DREAMS IN BLOOD, the first book in my vampire why choose trilogy coming sometime this summer.

The cupcake-ifying continues. Cadi is looking very pink. Just the way she likes it.

Progress shot! Fun fact: I actually finished the digital sketch for this last summer. I made several attempts at coloring it with alcohol markers but kept failing, got frustrated, and shelved it. Lesson learned! I'm better with colored pencils than markers.
