Always excited to see a new seaQuest article, and a positive one, which makes it all the more disappointing when it’s from a content mill with nothing to say and riddled with inaccuracies.

Finally, vindication

When we talk about the tone of the seaQuest comic, we have to remember it was 1995. This is the year of Age of Apocalypse, the Ultraverse from Malibu Comics, and the Marvel Edge imprint. Spawn was the biggest book of the year (outside of events and event tie-ins).

The cover art by Dave Dorman for seaQuest DSV issue #2 would easily be the best piece of art made for the franchise except… the titular submarine is upside-down. Everyone’s walking on the ceiling. Darwin fell out of the moon pool.

The systems and design language are of the past, very different from the speculative all-electric seaQuest, but I’m sure this notice of environmental regulation would be Bridger-approved.

Legally-mandated notices of the prohibition of dumping harmful materials overboard under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, and Annex V of the Marpol Treaty. Don’t dump plastic or oil, please.

The Steamboat Natchez’ engines are 101 years old, inherited from a previous boat, and open to guests during the length of the cruise. These pictures are from before we were underway but we went back later to see the pistons pumping and rudder turning.
