I’m still around. Just getting caught up on work. The barn sends its atmospheric regards. I hope you mongrels are well. See you soonish.
Working on a private commission from 2022. I’m ridiculously near-sighted, so I take my glasses off when I work. It’s not this intense, artistic moment, I just have shitty eyesight for anything a foot away from my face.
A smattering-of-work slideshow. Some old. Some new. All hand-drawn and painted in traditional mediums. Oil, pencil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal. Some good. Some, eh. Some very personal. Some just because. All deeply valuable to me on some level.
Prismacolor Verithin pencil and charcoal over watercolor wash on Canson paper. 11”x17”. SOLD.
My work week has consisted entirely of this nouveau line work in my client’s hair. But it’s turning out nicely. Private commission. Derwent lightfast pencil on sage green Canson paper.
-The Astronomer. 2011. Oil and pencil on paper. 18”x24”. -The Seamstress. 2011. Oil and pencil on paper. 18”x24”. -The Painters. 2012. Oil and pencil on paper. 18”x24”.
Title card trailer for a book I was planning on creating last year. I’m no longer doing the book, but making the trailer was a blast. Hand-painted titles. Oil and pencil on paper with stop-motion paper leaves on a homemade multi-plane setup using old picture frames tiered on coffee jars.
Monsters on canvas. -The Creature. 2023. Oil on canvas. 18”x24”. SOLD. -The Vault-Keeper. 2024. Oil on canvas. 11”x14”. SOLD. -Tombs of the Blind Dead. 2019. Oil on canvas. 8”x10. SOLD. -Zombie Fosse. 2022. Private commission. Oil on canvas. 18”x24”.
A tiny bit of early footage of an unused client piece. Derwent lightfast pencil on Cason paper.
Atropos. Private commission. 2024. Derwent lightfast pencil over watercolor wash on paper with an oil border. 11”x17”. Finished artwork, progress & details with a shot of the print sets once the triptych was completed.
Some old children’s illustrations. -Wynken, Blynken and Nod. 2005. Oil, pencil, pastel on paper. -Pinocchio. 2006. Oil, pencil, charcoal on paper. -Twilight. Unfinished study. 2007. Oil, pencil on paper. -The Nightmare Tree. 2005. Oil, pencil on paper. All 16”x20”.
My work’s not very dynamic in the frenetic sense, so it might not be what you’re looking for. But if you ever just need some decoration, that’s my strong suit. All work is traditional, hand-drawn illustration. Oil, pencil, watercolor, charcoal.
Earthworm Jim study. 2019. Charcoal and pencil on Strathmore toned paper. 11”x14”. (I think) I still want to do a painted, color version of this.
I hope everyone’s doing well. Just checking in, saying ‘hi’. I found a large printout of my original Clara sketch from 2019 that may end up on a canvas soonish. She was originally going to be a coffee poster, likely a sister piece to Sirena Bionda. I still have some other things to finish up first.
The Thin Man. Study. 2024. Graphite and white pencil on Strathmore toned paper. 11”x17”.
Green Halo Absinthe. 2024. Pencil, watercolor and oil on paper. 18”x24”. I did my first in this series back in 2008 as a 24”x48” canvas. I’m sure there’ll be more to come when I have time.
The Thin Man. Study. 2024. Pencil on Strathmore toned paper. 11”x17”. This was a prelim drawing for a larger, oil painted poster commission that fell through. Still, I fucking adore this drawing and it’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever done. I really wanted to paint that poster though.
Stars. 2015. Oil on wood. 24”x36”. Instead of painting the flecks of stars onto the background, I used a sewing needle to scrape away the paint and let the bare wood show through. This was also my first nude model reference shoot.
The Moon and June. 2007. Pencil, oil and charcoal on Canson paper. 18”x24”. SOLD.
bang. 2015. Graphite over watercolor wash on Arches watercolor paper. 11”x17”. SOLD.
What I was doing in class at 16… My friends and I as monsters. I’m the werewolf. My girlfriend and her sister were succubi, my friend Travis is the Reaper. His little brother, Gary is the mummy. And my childhood best friend, Jeff is the Creature. Prismacolor pencil and pen on paper. 11”x17”.
Finally getting into this August Gallows commission after I don’t know how many drafts. But I got it where I want it. It’s still in the skeletal stages, so bear with me. A million thanks to my friend and model for helping create and bring this character to life. August Gallows: Blue Gaze, Shoegaze.
