GOOD bike lanes = safe, efficient ways to get around town.

MOST* MPLS bike lanes HOWEVER, are completely stupid.
(mostly just new ones, original park-run ones rule)

1. They are not safe or efficient or connected.
2. They are put on major roads, which sucks and are dangerous for bikers, while also slowing traffic and destroying transportation and therefore local businesses
3. They force drivers onto traditionally residential roads, increasing accidents on side streets

Opening paragraphs vomit up highly misleading and questionable data, framing the entire debate in the way certain business owners want

Opening paragraph of an article published in the Star Tribune on July 9, 2026. It reads: “Business owners in Uptown are begging Minneapolis officials to help postpone a major county road project along Lyndale Avenue, noting they are still recovering from two years of road construction along Hennepin Avenue that shut 67 shops and cost the area an estimated $50 million in lost revenue.
“Many businesses did not survive. Others continue to struggle. So we cannot afford another three-year construction project on one of Uptown’s most important commercial corridors,” Uptown Association Executive Director Stefani Pennaz said in a letter to city officials at a public hearing Thursday.”

Just spreading dirt around. But at least someone is getting paid, right? Maybe it’s site prep. Maybe it’s something else. I don’t know but it’s fun to watch.

Are the house flippers back? Someone “flipped” this home a block away from me and they have the audacity to list it for $525k.

Real estate listing for 3401 Pillsbury Ave in Minneapolis. The list price is $525k. It was a 3 bed, 1 bath home that was somehow converted to 6 bed, 3 bath without an addition. Seems like they shoved 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in the basement.

Lyndale reconstruction update from the Lyndale neighborhood association. Seems like good news that the county is back at the drawing board based on feedback they received. Sucks we have to be in constant “fight mode” for basic infrastructure improvements.

An email update from the Lyndale neighborhood association about the planned Lyndale reconstruction. It reads, in part: “This summer we shared the latest plan based on the early rounds of engagement to get some additional input, with the hope of reaching a final layout for approval this fall. Based on the feedback we have since received, we are continuing to review how we can refine the design to balance the needs for all people along the corridor. Specifically, we have heard feedback regarding how we can: better separate people walking, rolling and biking; provide a transit advantage; and preserve parking and trees.

This means we will be pushing out our timeline for developing a final layout and getting city approval. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.”

Abang Yoli is gone from Nicollet. But a new business called Little Bird is going to open. There were people there today getting it set up. Hope it does well!

New cat arrived in the backyard and not sure what to do. There are a couple stray cats (they have been fixed) and a neighbor’s cat (Baxter the cat) who are regular visitors. But this new guy just showed up and I don’t think he belongs to anyone. Such a handsome boy.

Commissioner Greene and Mr. Potter,

The newly released layout for Lyndale is a failed concept that will endanger users, a problem that will be exacerbated as the corridor grows in population and more pivot to ebikes. As you know, these reconstructions are rare. The approved layout will endure decades, possibly continuing after my death. This is why it's essential we get it right.

I'm also shocked that - despite the accelerating climate crisis - we are prioritizing private vehicle use. Given the slow adoption and pivot to EVs in our country, we know that most cars on our roads will be gas powered for years (or decades) to come.

The right of way on Lyndale is wide enough to accommodate safe bike facilities, better pedestrian safety, and transit improvements. Instead of following established policy and doing the right thing for today and our future, this proposed layout enforces the status quo and reflects a dim vision for this important corridor.

If this layout is built, we will get confirmation of its shortcomings in short order by comparing how a reconstructed Hennepin performs to Lyndale. We will see higher rates of injury along Lyndale compared to Hennepin.We will see lower pedestrian and bike counts on Lyndale compared to Hennepin. And, Lyndale won't be any better off economically because there's a little bit more free car storage.

My only ask is that you do something you can be proud about and that future generations will benefit from. If this layout makes you feel proud, I hope there's a different role you can play in our community than the ones you currently serve in.
