Software quality and testing, gluten-free experiments, Sixers soap opera, low-budget home espresso. Wondering why the kids aren't angrier.
Amazon trying to convince me I should base my shoe size selection on the choice millions of others made, and not my actual shoe size which is known to me, is possibly the most laughably bad AI-based product feature I have seen.
Hearing of Glenn A Baker's passing and the first thing I thought of was this compilation CD my brother had, which I was pretty sure was one of his curations. Brother kindly snapped the liner notes for me. I also wondered if he listened to @andrewhickey.500songs.com
So after a 30-something year break from tuba, I played in my first-ever music competition on the weekend, the VBL State Solo & Ensemble Championships. The brass quintet I was in managed first in the C/D grade quintet and third (of 13) in the open hymn section. Has been fun to be a musician again.
TFW when you feel like you made a funny but super-niche remark with the wrong audience.
So Gemini responding to random phrases as if it's a useful thing would be a hilarious game if not for the power and water consumption.
Cafe sign in Busan - "More espresso, less depresso". I think there's something in that for all of us. (Apologies for pic, train moving made it hard).
Korean Easter eggs are literal eggs. At least I don't need to worry about whether they're gluten free :)
The Cafflano Kompresso seems to have a bad rap, but I've been able to get decent espresso shots out of it (using a friend's when we travelled) so happy to finally have my own now. It's small and light with an interesting modder community. Seems they aren't making them any more :(
At the national finals of the STEM racing competition. Kids building mini CO2 dragsters.
Brother-in-law has prepared for my upcoming visit with the Korean gluten-free rice beer I hunted down last time. Usually I guilt him into homebrewing me a GF beer from Korean supermarket ingredients but he's been a bit busy. If you're craving GF beer near Seoul, worth a visit - www.thewhot.com
Ooh, that reminds me that this is probably somewhere at my parents' house still and I should claim it.
As I stand at the cutlery drawer, plate in hand, I get the feeling I am being watched...
