Update: I let the clay fully dry then sanded it down, and now it looks like this!

The mug I made a few weeks ago, but now it's sanded down and smooth! It looks so good!! I'm so happy with it!!!

These three have haunted me ever since I first saw them: 1. "Untitled" (Portrait of Ross in L.A.) by Félix González-Torres 2. Electric Fan (Feel It Motherfuckers) by John S. Boskovich 3. Unfinished Painting by Keith Haring

"Untitled" (Portrait of Ross in L.A.) by Félix González-Torres is a pile of wrapped candies, weighing in total approximately 175 lbs at the time of installation.

175 lbs represents the "healthy weight" of his partner, Ross Laycock. Each visitor is meant to take a candy, representing how AIDS slowly ate away at him until he passed due to complications from the virus in 1991.

Electric Fan (Feel It Motherfuckers) by John S. Boskovich is an electric box fan encased in plexiglass, with an inscription reading "Only unclaimed item from the Stephen Earabino estate".

When Boskovich's partner, Stephen Earabino, died from AIDS-related complications, Earabino's family cleared out their shared apartment of all of Stephen's possessions (and most of Boskovich's) effectively erasing his presence on this earth, as they were ashamed pf his homosexuality, doing everything they could to hide it. They left one item remaining: the box fan. As the only item of Stephen's left to remember him by, Boskovich preserved it in the plexiglass container as a commemmoration of the only physical part that remains from the life they shared together.

The plexiglass has holes cut into it to allow people to feel the air it's blowing, which has been described as representing Earabino's breathing.

Unfinished Painting by Keith Haring is a painting in Haring's instantly recognizable style, with thick black lines painted to form various shapes and people, the spaces in between filled with a violet background and white lines in zigzags, circles, and other visually interesting forms. The painting, as per by the title, is unfinished. It only occupies the top left corner of the canvas, with paint dripping down from where the finished portion abruptly stops, leaving the rest of the canvas blank.

This painting was completed in 1989 and is one of the the last pieces he created before he passed in 1990. Its unfinished nature represents Keith's life being cut short by AIDS, and all of the art he would get the chance to create.

Nearly done with my balcony!!

View of my balcony from one corner. The balcony has the shape of two intersecting semicircles, has a white metal guardrail, and a mesh preventing things from falling off the balcony. The floor is mosaic-style wood tiles. You can see a trellis at the far end that's held against the railing, partially obscured by a loveseat with a wooden frame and white cushions that has its back against the building's wall, and a wooden coffee table in front of it. In the foreground is a wooden oval-shaped bistro table that's half cut off by the framing of the photo, with a bunch of potted plants on it, and two bistro-style wooden seats around the visible rounded edge of the table. Along the outer edge of the balcony are 4 plants hanging at evenly-ish spaced intervals by the balcony mesh where it connects with the ceiling (the floor of the balcony above mine)

View from the opposite corner. You can see the other corner in the background, which is where i took the other photo from. In that corner is another trellis, with a planter at its base that has some climbing plants that are freshly planted so haven't started climbing yet. You can see the oval bistro table in full. It has four of those seats around it, and is pushed up against the railing along one of the table's long sides.
