A Game Boy Game of the Month club. Anybody can join and submit anything as long as it relates to that month's game. June: The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls | July: Operation C
Wizards & Warriors X: Fortress of Sneers – Rick V. with art by Robin Enrico An article that is not about Contra. But it's at least mentioned once! @robinhoodie.bsky.social @itsmerickv.com yokoikids.wordpress.com/2026/07/21/w...
The powers that be in European countries did not like the muscular gun men in the Contra games and replaced them with robots. Operation C also got that treatment. Are there other differences other than the muscle boy to robot swap?
Which is your preferred weapon in Operation C? Homing Gun? Fire Gun? Or the trusty ol' Spread Gun?
Anybody else absolutely hate the Eye Spore, the thing from Operation C that is guaranteed to kill you at least once on the elevator in Area 1?
The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls never stops being silly. Keep playing and you will eventually see why this screen shot is so funny.
Anybody else screen shot this spell because you thought you had to memorize it?
Thanks to The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls, we now know what un-pasted wasabi looks like. Definitely did not think this icon was a shrimp or a dangar held up by balloons.
I know Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls is a very wordy game. But we love all the BIG TEXT parts.
We at Yokoi Kid HQ love a good drawing of a game map. Here's another cracker from the Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls. archive.org/details/kaer...
Animaniacs is full of the absolute dumbest puzzles where you end up looking at walkthroughs just to figure out. Like, how the hell do I jump over this randomly placed film camera?
You know, some of the cutscenes in Animaniacs are actually pretty funny.
Nolen has made a new Animaniacs puzzle in the old Kidscross section. Go complete it! www.picross.net/yokoi/?pl=20...
We love the little animation of Wacko taking his head off if you aren't pressing any buttons. There's a name for this I bet.
Alleyway: Do Bricks Dream of Concrete Sheep? – Ian Ferguson @ianferguson.bsky.social There are no Animaniacs submissions so far, so we are posting an article that was EXCLUSIVE to Yokoi Kids Volume 2 with an illustration by Tom Bifulco. yokoikids.wordpress.com/2026/05/12/a...
Animaniacs takes full advantage of the Super Game Boy, adding a custom border, more colors, and using the snes sound chip for the music! It's one of the few SGB games that actually disables the ability to swap colors during the game.
Ol' @itsmerickv.com will be slingin' whatever is left of the Yokoi Kids zines at Halftone Zine Fest in KY.
Our past contributor Alex made a peeped the various different region covers for Godzilla. @mendi-draw-bal.bsky.social
The Godzilla manual has little screenshots of the movie. That’s kinda rare. www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM...
We learned that the Japanese version of Godzilla (Gojira-kun: Kaijū Daikōshin) is not only cooler, it also has better game mechanics. Here's a boisterous Youtuber to explain. youtu.be/mG_l6BHRKwU?...
Pete beat Bionic Commando (with save states). Has anybody else gotten far?
How many times have you been playing Bionic Commando and hit Descend instead of Transfer?
The 1-up icon from the manual is pretty great. www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM...
Bionic Commando gets points just for having a cool logo on the title screen.
"Kinda looks like kid Dracula" - Pete Plev Has anybody completed Spanky's Quest yet?
