Flew from coop after 15 years following arrival of a black cuckoo! Retired headteacher - the listener in the room, here to learn and smile: family; countryside; environment; humanity; justice; health; art; rural life ...
The branch that imparts the name - as seen in my imagination! 😂 💚
Wishing everyone, everywhere, a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.
Merry Christmas, peace and goodwill to all around our wonderful world. 🎄🕊🕊🕊🎄
Have a lovely day! Apologies for so many reposts which I usually try to avoid at one time. Think I am the guy on the left, so much of interest this morning! 🤣 💚 🌈
A lovely Spring afternoon spent at Nunnington Hall, NT, N.Yks. The Spring bulb display alongside the River Rye were a delight to see.
Great excitement! The sun has been shining with a touch of blue sky.
🎄 Wishing everyone peace and contentment - wherever you are, whether with time to yourself or with family or friends. 🎄 🥰
Morning, Blue Sky. Winter Solstice today - enjoy your shortest day this year. 🥰 Picture - Jane Crowther
Grandoggie sitting tonight. Wonderful sunset on outskirts of York as on way to collect them. So had to stop for quick mobile snap.
Quite a few people have liked my post of Flynn over the last few weeks, so I thought I would post one of his half-brother, Jake. They were born an exact week apart; were an amazing characterful but very different pair all their lives; and sadly died within 9 months of each other. Meet Jake. 😍
Lovely trees sparrows: art work by Emma Price. Always been a gang here, a feature much enjoyed but sadly not seen any for a while. I noticed in Summer numbers were significantly down; wondering about disease or wet spring impacting on broods?
Picture of the ornate gatehouse ruins at Kirkham Abbey yesterday on travels about the Wolds. The nearby River Derwent was very high so will likely flood with heavy rain forecast this weekend. Normally a very tranquil, peaceful place.
A lovely bonus today was a photography exhibition in Sledmere House courtyard. A natural history theme largely; particularly special was a huge picture of a starling, well illustrating its vivid colours. Sledmere has a few well recognised landmarks.
Away day today! Venturing to the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Visiting Sledmere featured in one of the many paintings of the area by David Hockney. What's not to like? ☕️🍰
Wherever I am, as soon as I can see the White Horse of Kilburn I know I am home. 💟
