JHC. This was the last in a series of tributes on a Stuff ig post. Every other one talked about him as a person, how good he was or how he looked after his colleagues, often a personal anecdote. The you get Luxon whos first sentence is about industry and last is about exports. FFS.
I saw this headline and thought, "Wait, the kid from 2 and 1/2 men has a beef with the 2000s boy band?". No, no, that's not what this is.
I think the article might has mislabelled the maths? "While the average cost of driving an EV 100km in New Zealand was calculated at US$32.97 (NZ$58)" - that seems high. The original source's methodology makes the same mistake, but then clarifies the calculation:
Wait, so was it treasury who advised we spend $600m+ on "ghost ferries", or was that the ministers and treasury suggested the original solution which would have meant we had something for our money by now?
Why does this read as a politic way of saying, "We don't like your advice, it doesn't match our ideology"?
