Games, pets, politics, mental health. Natural-born lurker. She/her. Wears a mask. Probably officially an Old. 🐕 🎲 📚 #Critter #Vamily #Autistic #ADHD I don't auto-follow back; don't @ me, I'm an introvert.
Having a high-sensory day so I thought I'd play a nice, chill game like Manor Lords. Turns out there's all kinds of sound effects most people probably never hear, and they're driving me batty. One sounds like random banjo strumming (in Franconia?) and another like a passing hummingbird. Wut?
We will be saying goodbye to Mogwai (the brindle one) later today and I am very sad.
I think it might have been a goat moth caterpillar (moths have the coolest names), based on the French wikipedia pix. The English site doesn't have baby pix. fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cossus_...
Is this weird? I'm *coughmumbledecades older than 10* but still do that with earthworms and other wrigglies, and the occasional spider/beetle/cryptid. Moved a caterpillar as big as my finger away from our overly curious dogs the other day, no idea what type but it looked sort of like this:
Adobo is ambrosial. 😋 It took moving to New Mexico before I realised chile could be more than just jalapeño and hot. Fresh-roasted hatch green chile peppers were a seasonal delight. And yes, NMU has a special institute for chile peppers.
The second playthrough is going well. Knowing the story hasn't been a big deal so far, though I am deliberately playing at a snail's pace (still in Chapter 2 after 2 IRL weeks). I keep finding and doing new stuff. It's fun. And still so goddamn pretty.
Did I shoot a lady from a great distance in order to glitch-revive her horse and then steal said horse? I couldn't possibly comment. #RDR2 In my first playthrough I was all about the Arabians and missed this breed completely, but honestly the Arabians are much too small for Arthur's large frame.
I've just realised you can pretty much literally see the end from the beginning in #RDR2. A view westwards from Horseshoe Overlook, towards a distant homestead. IYKYK, and if you don't, no spoilers. Doing a second playthrough is interesting. No first-time feels, but the foreshadowing is intense.
RDR2 second playthrough = shit-talking Micah's every line. This is an old screenshot but they're so pretty you can have one anyway.
Ah yes, a #NoMansSky 'quirk'. I hopped into a new galaxy yesterday (Ekwathore, #23, a whole 9% of the way through (in 4 years 😬)) and every space station entry *not* in Ekwathore vanished. Not a huge deal, I guess, I have bases in Euclid & elsewhere, but still... kind of wish it hadn't happened.
I knitted a whole-ass grown-up jumper for myself in just over a week and I feel very accomplished. I am wearing it right now. It's not the first, but definitely the best. A few centuries ago, not having handmade clothes meant having no clothes; now, wearing something you made yourself is the bomb.
I mean, I have access to this stuff on the daily... But after this thread I do have a sudden hankering for a nice deep, warm apple pie with some ice-cream... Damn, now I'm drooling.
In that vein, while ripping back a project because of a mistake is hella frustrating, frogging a project deliberately is surprisingly zen. Making big poofy-crinkly new balls (I know what I said) is very satisfying. #knitting 🧶 Also, Malabrigo yarn is just texturally the best ever.
I had a sweater project 75% done (all but the sleeves), but it sat put away for 5 years and now I'm frogging it to make something else. I don't regret the decision, but there's always a part of my brain that goes noooooooo! when the unravelling starts...
Mogwai is under general anaesthesia this morning to biopsy the weird skin outbreak/infection/who knows what that showed up a couple of weeks ago. I know none of us have many spoons, but any vibes that can be spared would be gratefully appreciated. She's old and sick and anaesthesia can be dangerous.
Hah this is so familiar; our husky liked doing that. It's why I ended up putting the seed out in big tree-hung feeders (I don't mind feeding squirrels too) or just in a heap on a pot saucer on our outside table. The husky did not approve. I have a lot of NM snow pix. <3
Do I always forget to get a pic when the plate is clean and the food not already half-eaten? Yes, yes I do.
Been knitting a scarf when Mogwai has her IV days at the vet, just for something to do while preventing her from going Destructo-girl on the equipment, and I'm not sure if it'll be a memory, a memorial, or just macabre. At any rate it's not done and she's still here. Merry Christmas, motherfuckers.
Mogwai update: renal failure not fully stabilised yet, but we haven't needed IV-rescue in 5 weeks. Appetite slowly recovering but daily injections @ vet and multiple other meds still needed - basically round the clock care (esp with force-feeding small amts every 90 minutes). But: still alive 👍
Week 4 of the battle to stabilise Mogwai's renal failure. I won't bore folks with the details (which are many & have involved tiny slivers of hope in a sea of exhaustion for everyone (mostly her)), but if you have any vibes to spare please send them into the aether. We're all pretty tired & low.
Mogwai not the healthiest of campers right now. Working on getting her well enough to have useful baselines for an actual diagnosis, hopefully tomorrow. I've been with her, since (Gremlin-like) she destroys the nasty tube things trying to shove stuff up her arm. Health vibes gratefully accepted.
Woman, staaaaahhhpppp! (Seriously. These are my anxiety dreams she's having.) (Also yes almost everything in the shot is custom content, don't judge me.)
This is NOT ok, Sims 4 dudette! I don't think I've ever seen that thought/dream bubble before and I am disturbed.
