went to view the sakura yesterday for a couple hours. kimono club got cancelled but i wore mine anyway... with a ton of layers because it was so cold!! raccoon yokai flavour :3

but ya, been wanting to cosplay these two for a while. the fight from mortal kombat 1995 is so fun. and trevor goddard just has so much smarmy charisma with the character he plays. i'm happy michael had fun with it :3
my costume was basic AF 🤣 it's a tank top & shorts & combat boots i already had from my guile cosplay. the wig can be chopped down / made more accurate with the hairstyle i just had 0 time!! needed to make sure the kano fit was right. the man is going shirtless here, gotta make sure it's good!
the shitty part about using copic is that the pants can now never be washed 💀 because it's alcohol based & not made for fabric. but i ran out of time, and couldn't find a fabric marker in the colour i needed. i used worbla to make the eye mask thing!! first time using it, crazy how it works.
the most important part was that they look fine from a distance. this is not a masquerade costume, it just had to read "oh yeah that's Kano". i went to an army surplus shop and they wanted $160 for new boots, so i went to VV and grabbed these brown ones for $9, and painted them black 💀
the pants were hand-drawn with a copic marker that ran out about 1/3rd through. luckily i have 15 years old copic refills that still work!! i mixed black with 07 grey to make 09 grey. do i recommend this method? if you have any other options, literally any other option... use that option hahaha.
y'all have any idea how hard it was to shave this man's chest into this formation??? what a specific cluster of hair, man!! it's like the superman symbol but made out of hair 🤣 we'll be wearing these cosplays at AN as well, if the weather holds out. shirtless & shorts and a tank need the sun 😭

the movie was so fun, the fights were so much better and the costumes were great too. let video game movies stay campy and silly and colourful, my god.
i've been wanting to do a couples cosplay of sonya and kano for FOREVER and the advanced screening of MORTAL KOMBAT II was the perfect opportunity to get these cosplays together! hahahahahahaha
