tyranny = zero stars, do not recommend. who knew the apocalypse would be so cringe?
When a Q that actually resembles more recent Dem talking points is posed, it gets 61% approval. So the headline—based on some of the more misleading polling Qs—distracts from the insight that voters DO care about stopping Trump's unchecked power grab, at home and abroad.
"Dead heat" sounds bad, but the poll Qs are deceptive. Did Center for American Political Studies at Harvard, the Harris Poll, & HarrisX consult *any* Dems when they pitched this Q? The Dem platform isn't just 'free everything'! (the poll captured GOP messaging well, though—interesting)
Hegseth threatened to withdraw military support unless the Scouts demonstrated ideological conformity with the Trump agenda. Unsurprisingly, this includes anti-trans membership and bathroom policies. And no more "Citizenship in Society," it's too woke!
~400 days in, Trump's net approval rating is underwater even in lots of states that voted for him (full stats of each state in alt text). I mean, he's lost Mississippi! Alaska! Both Carolinas! TEXAS! It's bad and I don't think it's getting any better.
Evergreen reminder that FCC chair Carr is the Trump Pinhead (guy who wore the gold Trump lapel pin). He's not exactly impartial on this subject...
The Kansas City Defender notes the victory "belongs to every single person who showed up in the cold, who walked out of class, who closed their shop... who trained their neighbors on their constitutional rights, who made phone calls, who refused to look away."
sure this all comes as a huge surprise, the "Mass Deportations Now!" signs didn't give you a clue huh
I've seen the Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara make some reasonably measured statements, but the MN Fraternal Order of Police immediately put out a pro-ICE statement. I'm sure Jonathan Ross has many supporters among MN cops.
The MN police have made it clear that they will stand with ICE over MN residents. So I'm not sure it would even matter if Frey deployed the police.
Technofascism observers, if you're not familiar with the world of LAZARUS, you absolutely should be! Great time to start this series, with new issues coming out now so you won't have to wait years on a cliffhanger. Many parallels to our current authoritarian hellscape, but far more entertaining!
People magazine has been surprisingly (to me) on top of these kinds of stories lately. ICE raids and other immigration horror stories, the Epstein saga, etc.
"fluid mingling of politics with profit" WHAT @nytimes.com are you familiar with the word "corruption" and can you please use it in a sentence? In like *all* the sentences describing Trump's illegal self-dealing as president?
The NYT lede was framed well: "Trump Tells Top Brass US Cities Should Be Military Training Grounds" but when I click on the story in the app, it's replaced with this sanewashed, sterile headline about "Familiar Partisan Complaints," which is closer to the Post's. So they get half credit.
Not sure about here on bluesky, but Newsom definitely posted on X. I think maybe it doesn't show up in a search because he didn't specifically mention her by name, instead linking to the video of Walz during a press conference.
