Flower lover; dog lover (cats too); poetry & art are awesome; grateful for thoughtful, informed, informative, &/or funny posts. Semi-retired educator. Still send snail mail. Prefer some anonymity, so won't ever be verified, but I'm real.
My dog is trying to make friends with all of the neighborhood cats. Boo is 100% in. Ralphie still ambivalent. Mitzi (22 yo!) said hello, then watched from a distance. It’s lovely to see.
Life imitates art; woman imitates cat. My partner loves her shirt from @onenerdyopinion.bsky.social
Continue to play with colored markers per my sister’s challenge to me to do something creative for 10-min minimum per day. It’s relaxing.
Can't email right now, but feel free to include this in your total. Just donated.
Still playing w colors on blank postcards per challenge from my sister. Sister lives in MPLS & just asked me to make color copies of these, & to make colorful cards for her to put into bags of groceries she’s delivering to friends afraid to leave their houses bc skin color, accents, ICE, Kavanaugh.
Complaints include not enough meals per day and quantity too small. Also, why do squirrels climb trees so fast?
Still doing the “minimum 10-minute a day” do-something-creative challenge that my sister asked if I’d do with her (from afar). She’s gotten sidetracked, but I’m having fun just playing. (Can’t actually draw, so just having fun with color).
Sister challenged me to 10 minute-minimum daily creativity. I can’t draw anything reality-based, but I’m having fun with a sharpie & colorful brush-tip markers.
Greetings from the northeast! Autumn color is fantastic, wherever it is.
This cat talked its way into an Airbnb while its owner was away & the owner’s roomie wasn’t giving it enough attention.
So much awful stuff being done by Republicans in power—& my father has had 2 recent falls & hospital visits, so my antidote this evening was homemade GF DF banana pancakes with fresh bluebs I picked yesterday at an organic farm. Many repeated dollops of Cocojun vanilla yogurt for full luxury.
Regular unleaded: $3.20/gallon. The least expensive gas available. Took this photo the other day.
Happy Birthday, Danielle! May your day (& year) have many bright spots, like the flourescent microscopy that you share generously with us! Cell-phone photo. I send valentine's day cards each year, and this was this year's (w silly poem to boot).
This clematis barely bloomed last year (only 2-3 flowers VERY late in the season), after years of abundant blooming. But it’s baaack! And I just love it. #garden
Last tulips. First poppy. Our neighbors gave us some of their poppies when we first moved in about 30 years ago. They had to move bc one of them had Parkinson’s, & is no longer alive, but the poppies unfurling feels full of the life & friendship we shared here with them for 25 years. #garden
Had an appt this morning at local hospital. I was the only person wearing a mask. Usually I see one or two or three others in hosp or grocery store.
Stood in a gentle, misty rain midday at our weekly “Hands Off” protest, and then was entranced later in the afternoon, on my dog walk, with the raindrops still nestled on all the small, low leaves.
A friend sent this to me this morning re #mothersday, and I just really liked it, and she gave me permission to share it. This isn't a poem, just a musing, but she is a wonderful poet, and you can see a few of her poems at her website: alisonprine.com
Friend who lives two blocks from me takes the BEST photos of flowers in my yard. 300+ tulips are beginning to bloom in three relatively small garden beds bc in the fall It’s helpful to have reasons to live till spring. Have to plant every fall bc otherwise no room 4 zinnias etc in the summer. 1/2
They can be. This (Rock, Paper, Scissors discussion) made me remember one of the best images I've ever seen. It just speaks to my sense of humor in a way I still cannot articulate. But this never fails to amuse me & cheer me. Who thought of this? I thank them.
Gorgeous! I had two of these, and both used to bloom like crazy. Now I’m down to 1 that only made a few flowers last year. Am going to give it TLC & whatever food it wants & hope for the best. Photos are from the good years.
It was the most spectacular wildflower day in the woods today. Went there for a walk after our local weekly “hands off” rally.
