I drew a friend’s d&d character (Saidie) & her mount (Sweet Pea) a year ago. It collected dust for 11.5 months. I realized it was her bday & slapped on a background quick & gifted it to her. It was trippy working on art from so long ago. I’ve gotten more confident in my style since #dndart #inkart

This was my first drawing on the Bristol (400 series). I think it shows off the qualities. I drew it with ink markers (Pitt pens). I can’t mix the markers on a palette to achieve subtle color variations. But on this paper, the ink absorbs so slowly, I can wipe it away to open up lighter variations.

I’ve been toying around to find how to get a really solid, smooth wash in ink, watercolor, gouache, acrylic gouache. I’m proud of this attempt. Gouache seems choice. Technique in alt txt. @annalarssonstudio.bsky.social I bet you might have insightful thoughts (& hope to see more swatches soon!)

I told myself I would draw things beyond pretty women this year. But like… i started these last year… I’ve a lot of backlog to clear through. This piece beautifully captures my constant state of in decision around if/how I’m applying contour lines.

The irony behind making this is on the first try I missed the eye 4 times, splattered ink onto the counter, and when I stepped away to grab a towel, my cat—the white one—sat herself dead on the wet drawing. Later, the latex paint ripped the eyeball clean off. ☠️ I fully blundered my blundering hard.
