Heading home after a day in Edinburgh supporting my niece, who was hosting the first in-person event for a forum she created for creative mums. The manager of the venue, Browns of Leith, heard I own a bakery and gave me some of their cakes. No one ever gives me cake! A lovely end to the best day.

These colours make me very happy (roast cauliflower, courgette and butterbeans on garlicky yoghurt with chicken and pickled pink onions)

We’re away for a couple of days (some work, mostly fun) so this is what I just had for dinner. Bavette steak with mushrooms with roasted green beans out of shot. And strawberry sorbet. I’m very happy.

We get lovely reviews like this all the time, so why am I obsessing about the horrible review from a woman complaining about the scones we’ve been making for 10 years without a single complaint?

I’m delighted with this morning’s charity shop find! My love of kitchen ware is not new but I can trace my love of beautiful stainless steel pots to the gorgeous cover of @nigella.bsky.social ‘s Feast. My find isn’t nearly as beautiful as hers but it’s made my day.

I’m sad it’s finished.

Obsessed with roasted strawberries at the moment. I’m having to limit myself to using them in one cake per day.

My pickling obsession is still going strong. Pickled cherry tomatoes and red onions and cottage cheese on toast is my new favourite. Look at those colours.
