The mayor has written a letter to Eby demanding involuntary care, parts of which were just deemed unconstitutional. Using city letterhead to make a campaign statement while deflecting from his failures and blocking life saving health care is terrible leadership.
Incredible day at the dyke march, in spite of the presence of far right agitators from OneBC. We are stronger together. Happy Pride
Today is Emancipation Day in Vancouver which marks the 1834 enactment of the Slavery Abolition Act across the British Empire
Well that’s a wrap on this term! Couldn’t have done it without these 3. @lucymaloney.bsky.social @ptfry.bsky.social @rebeccaleebligh.bsky.social aka The Northsiders
Happy to support Vancouver’s capital plan yesterday and glad council supported the inclusion of Kits Pool and jointly operated faculties at the suggestion of Tom Digby. Disappointed about ABC striking out Renfrew, but we can revisit that in the future.
Great to tour the new Ashtrey recovery resource centre. Showers, laundry, food, and access to life saving services. @sarahblyth.bsky.social
This is odd. Why are advertising the DTES as a Mexican barrio to FIFA visitors?
Yesterday I brought a resolution to tell the federal government regulate super bright LED headlights at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in Edmonton. Local governments across our country agreed to improve road safety for many people with visual impairments and all road users. It passed.
Congrats to @amandajaneburrows.bsky.social and the whole First United team alongside Lu’ma Native housing for opening the doors on their brand new building at Gore and Hastings
Really enjoyed Dragonboat BC’s Vessi 500 yesterday. It’s a shame they won’t be able to hold their annual regatta due to FIFA
Politicians celebrating the defeat of life-saving healthcare during an overdose crisis is nothing to be proud of. An overdose prevention site IS helping vulnerable people “properly.” The evidence is clear: OPS save lives, reduce public drug use, and connect users to care.
ABC continues to spread shameless and dangerous disinformation. Just weeks after the Mayor and Cllr Zhou were caught spreading outrageous lies about me, Zhou went on WeChat and claimed my tax rebate idea was a "kill the rich" policy.
Hour 18 of the annual Graham Clark 24 hour stand up special at Little Mountain Gallery. Proceeds go to DTES Women’s Centre.
MP @jennykwan.bsky.social gave an impassioned speech at the 112th anniversary of the Guru Nanak Jahaz incident (formerly Komagata Maru). A reminds of our racist past (and present).
Attended the opening of Ho’-kee-melh Kloshe Lum, a new building offering 87 affordable rental homes, 25 supportive homes with rent held at the shelter rate, and 56 market-rate rental homes. It underscores how important the Community Housing Fund is. @lucymaloney.bsky.social @ptfry.bsky.social
So grateful for everyone who made the 42nd Mother’s Day Powwow happen after it looked like it was going to be canceled due to rising security costs. Huy ch'qa
Very proud of Guy Felicella for having the courage to return his proclamation after the mayor passed an urgent motion to block an OPS. Citing dangerous misinformation from ABC councillors, he said it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. @ptfry.bsky.social @guyfelicella.bsky.social
Is it a coincidence that the community centres ABC prioritized over others that were flagged by PB just happen to be where they polled the highest? H/t @laurachristensen.bsky.social
On April 1st ABC councillors unanimously signed on to the Elect Respect campaign. On Sunday they started running this ad. It’s almost comical at this point.
Happy one year anniversary of our by-election win! @copevancouver.bsky.social
