Julei: "THAT is a WAR-AXE. Two-handed machine-forged steel, finished with an enchanted blade. Do you take us for SIMPLETONS?!"

Demon: "I'm a DEMON. A normal woodsman's axe would snap in half at the first stroke. With THIS puppy. I can take down a tree with a single blow! Or a BANDIT for that matter..."

Bevan: "Beheading non-Beings seems overly harsh, your ladyship. Gryphons, for instance, have lived beside Beings for tens of millennia, trading and providing transport. You would throw all that away?"

Featherstone: "We have cars and trucks now! We need not depend on WINGED FREAKS for transport!"

Bevan: "I am a machine, lady. If THAT carries the death penalty, then I'd LOVE to see you try to behead your cars and trucks!"

Featherstone: "*DESTROY* HIM! WHATEVER HE IS, I WANT HIM *DEAD!*"

A crossbow bolt bounces off Bevan's head. He turns, punches the archer and crushes the crossbow with one hand. Then he teleports out.

Fardon: "We've caught his agents before now. I'm sure he has other spies, but unless they do anything REALLY extreme... No point in starting some kind of witch-hunt."

Fardon: "If they do... Well, it's the worse for them. That rogue who burned the Hunters and the migrants... Might be the work of a lone maniac, but it's more likely one of Thurr's boys running amok."

Fardon: "...Thank you."

The courier touches Fardon's neck-satchel with a large handheld computer to get his 'signature'.

Fardon reads the scroll.

Fardon: "Ah, good news and bad news. Your citizenship application has been received, so we'll need to fly to the capital tomorrow for an interview."

Xerian: "Maybe we could rescue him and flee, but what GOOD would that do? The authorities already arrested us on suspicion that Lautrec was involved in the abductions - and now we've BOTH disappeared! They'll have warrants for our arrest all over the Outer Rim!"

Xerian: "Having technically evaded arrest, do you think the authorities would LISTEN to me raving about an invisible alien spaceship that's going around kidnapping people?"

Xerian: "And what if they did? What could they DO against a warship filled with superior technology? If they try to evacuate everyone or broadcast a warning, what good would that do?"

Xerian: "You implied that the ship's crew understand my language from studying our broadcasts, so they're clear monitoring our communications! They'd know that they've been discovered and start the invasion immediately!"

Xerian: "And EVEN IF none of that happens, and they evacuate everyone to some other planet, it's only a matter of time until the ship arrives THERE too!"

Lautrec: "You know, at a pinch, we could probably bail on this whole universe."

Professor: "I don't NEED to. You see, Niall, I managed to obtain genetic material from Pyroduck, the baby dragon Fa'Lina adopted during the Wars."

Bevan: "My name is Bevan, and I am one of Daryil's elite guards. I was sent here to treat with you."
Featherstone: "Daryil, AGAIN! Why does he keep interfering?! What have I done to offend him...?"

Bevan ticks them off on his fingers.

Bevan: "It's quite a list... murders and attempted murders, mostly. Leaving aside that you just guillotined his DIPLOMAT, you also attempted to behead his clan-child Benjamin Daryil, and most recently his key ally, King Fairwater."

Bevan: "Lastly, my Lord is greatly displeased at the way you run your realm in general."
Featherstone: "It is not his BUSINESS how I choose to rule my lands!"

Bevan: "Ah, but it is NOW. You see, following your exile, the new administration were negotiating various trade deals with Daryil."

Bevan: "We had sales representatives here when you attacked. The officials they had been treating with were hanged, beheaded, or in some cases, both. Some of our employees barely got out alive, and several DID NOT."

Bevan: "It became his business THEN, when you started guillotining his employees and attempting to do the same to his family!"

Fardon: "Sometimes. We can't completely stop acts of terrorism."

Fardon: "But they generally need weapons to do much damage, and we can catch THOSE at the border. Hunters DO send folks to the university here, but not often as it can backfire."

Fardon: "Atlantia itself is the nearest Hunter territory and no dragon enters or leaves there alive. So they don't have any of us to study... But they DO need to understand our physiology, even if it's just to help kill us. So they send kids to the Institute of Dracology."

Mermul: "What happens?"
Fardon: "If they truly loathe dragons, eventually they make a slip and get caught. But usually they go native."

Fardon: "Lord Varl does not wish to be vindictive, so if they want to join our side, they're welcome to say. Otherwise they'll be deported to the Disputed Territories in short order."

Fardon: "If they're caught perpetrating some atrocity... Well... the sentencing will be swift."
