#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 2) A really good pair of scissors. These are both Japanese, phenominal cutting edges so a protective pouch is essential. They are beautifully designed and comfortable to use. 3) nail file and clippers; I have rather fragile nails so dealing with rough patches quickly is paramount

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 this week is tools you find fun/essential. These are the things I find essential & use every day 1) stitch markers; my first (centre and right) I made from old earrings and bracelet charms, later I branched out into using bought beads and charms. The rings are soldered (anti-snag)

#FOFriday and #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 Two more linen stitch cowls have been completed this week, one in sock yarn the other in aran weight. I like the way the gauge differences play with the colours and the stitch pattern. It's almost hypnotic with self-striping/patterning sock yarn.😁

#WIPWednesday #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 You must be very tired now of seeing my linen stitch cowls 🙄, but I have started another one! This time it is knit in cream and grey aran weight yarns, and I think I like its quiet calming colours.

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 this week it's Texture. I do love tactile scrunchy knits, something to please the hand as well as the eye. A mixture of other designers work and my own. My two pieces were both the result of my obsession with Sequence Knitting.

#FOFriday 🧶 I find rhythmic repetitive stitch patterns very soothing at the moment, so I am knitting a lot of linen stitch. I'm working in many yarn weights and sampling various sizes of cowl, and I'm enjoying myself in the sunshine☀️😁 The first photo shows this week's finishes. Details in alt text.

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 this week is WIPs. I have so so many WIPs. I am plodding on with my Weekender Crew, have just reached the cuff on sleeve 1. Bain is on hiatus - it's too complicated to knit watching TV so it tends to get left; ditto the Owl Cowl. So a rainbow cowl is what's left of my active WIPs.

I'm calling this Some Kind of Rainbow. A cowl using the colours of the rainbow as stripes but working them in 2-colour linen stitch. The lower rib and a short piece of linen stitch forms the first stripe in plain red, then the red mixes with orange for the second stripe; orange mixes with yellow for the third stripe, and so on.

I have a question for the #knitsky hivemind🧶 How do you feel about mixing a plied yarn with a single? The yarns are of equal weight. I'm contemplating knitting something where the ribbing is in the plied yarn and the body in a mix of plied and single, and I can't decide if it is a good idea or not!

Sadly she no longer dyes, her colours were always so vivid and the names she gave them so memorable.

#FOFriday 🧶 and I have 3 finishes this week!! Admittedly, two were very close and just needed casting off, but they still count I think.😊 The green and pink cowl took me 2 days to knit, the grey shawl and the pink cowl were longer term projects. All were thoroughly enjoyable!

I used all but a couple of metres of the Tamar in knitting the large size, and selected the Ooskit for the garter edging as a nice contrast. I worked an i-cord bind off.

I ran out of the Sarsaparilla pink at the halfway point, and sadly the colourway has been discontinued, so I completed the cowl using Fuchsia which is tonally similar. The contrast colour is Peacock, a riot of blues and greens with blips of white. I used every last scrap of the partial skein I had left from other projects, but I think I am going to have to buy more as it is such a fun colourway!

#WIPWednesday 🧶 and I am once again knitting a cowl! This one is knit in linen stitch using 2 colours of Malabrigo Rios - Fresco y Seco (green tonal) and Virgo (pale pink green with splashes of phthalo blue)

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 this week is dark and light. My vision isn't good enough to knit with really dark yarn, my darkest knits are usually tempered with light to give my eyes a rest. So my contribution is my Swifts tam; I knit 2 samples in grey and off white, reversing the colours.

#WIPWednesday 🧶 yet again, and I have started yet another cowl. I'm experimenting with various yarn weights in linen stitch. This one is light fingering - Holst Garn Supersoft - in Larkspur and Rosegarden. I would have used Holst Garn Tides but it has been discontinued! 😭

It's cold damp & windy here in UK, so no knitting outside today! #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 I'll have to be content with a shot of 2018 #WKIP day, when I sat in the arrivals area of Manchester Airport waiting for my husband. My Rav project page says I finished the socks, but I have no recollection of them!

I was working on a pair of vanilla toe-up socks in Debbie Bliss Rialto Luxury Sock yarn in colour Roskilde. My Ravelry project page says I finished them in December 2018, and I used only half the skein. I used the rest of the yarn for a pair of mittens. I've definitely seen and worn the mittens, but have no recollection of ever wearing the socks, have no photo of the finished pair, and haven't seen them since. Where have they gone?!

Not exactly a finished piece of knitting for #FOFriday 🧶, but I wanted to share my first attempt at dyeing a skein of yarn. 60g about 130m of Sublime CashMerinoSilk DK dyed with an Australian Landscape dye named Chamomile. Lots of mistakes, but I am really pleased with this gorgeous yellow😍☀️

Today in #WIPWednesday 🧶 I have mostly been musing about decreases for a beanie crown, and ripping out an almost finished sleeve because it was too long!

Testing a theory about beanie decreases with a tiny piece of knitting. There is a brim, in dark blue, and a body in blue and pink linen stitch. I'm just about to start the crown, so the hat is just a narrow rectangle in this photo.

#LightItUpMAL 🧶 my 2nd contribution is also my 1st attempt at dyeing wool. Having knit the Age of Brass & Steam Shawl in a flat white yarn, I then dyed it with a pale grey-lavender dye named Mist. Did it look a bit mottled? Yes, but I love it😁 Thanks to many friends on here for the valuable advice

Dyeing in progress. The white shawl has just gone into the dye bath, having been soaked in citric acid solution for an hour. The dye bath looks like a darkish blue, but is actually a blue-leaning grey.

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 and I'm stuggling to find something I've knit in yellow🤔 Just kidding! I love yellow, makes me smile just picking up a piece of yellow knitting.😁 Here are a few, 3 shawls and a cowl. I've also knit a huge yellow winter jumper, but just looking at pictures of it makes me feel hot!

I love the fresh green of the newly unfurled beech leaves on our young tree. 🌳 So beautiful, especially in bright sunlight ☀️

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 WIPs week. I have shown many of my current WIPs lately so I thought I would revisit a piece from 2023. I knit several modular sock yarn blankets in 2023, and I fully intend to finish this one this summer! 😊 West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in a plain and a selfstriping yarn

#LightItUpMAL 🧶 hunting through deep stash yesterday, I found 200g of Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK in a very boring flat white. Perfect for dyeing, once knit up into a shawl. I chose www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... as a quick knit for this project😁

Most of my jumpers in the last few years have been stocking stitch. These two are The Weekender Crew (L) and the Weekender (R), both by Andrea Mowry, both presenting as Reverse Stockinette but actually knit inside out for ease. I like this idea!😁 Perfect TV knitting! #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶

Thanks Samantha! I like the heel, found it very easy to work and the fit is very good, perhaps a little tight over my high instep. I want to try adding the slip-stitch reinforcement to the heel on the next sock, as I don't feel a simple knitted heel will stand up to me wearing it!

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 this week @livrunsfast.bsky.social wants to see Stocking Stitch knits. Due to acute skin sensitivity on my feet, I only knit and wear plain vanilla socks, no texture, just stocking stitch. I am currently learning the Fleegle Heel, and have completed one sock - so far so good!😁

I can't wait for #FOFriday to show you all! This is my finished handspun indie dyed Linen Stitch Cowl for #LightItUpMAL 🧶 and I am so pleased with it. 😊 I reckon I could wear it inside out, too, as the bobbly surface on the "wrong side" looks interesting, like boucle😁 (see third photo).
