@wyrdscience
The magazine for explorers of strange worlds & new horizons! Say hi press@wyrd.science Made in Belgium. Published in the UK. Read Everywhere. #RPG #TTRPG #Wargames #Boardgames #Fantasy #SciFi #Comics #CoolShit
Ok, without wanting to set off weeks of hot vitriolic discourse, where are we -as a “community”- on manticores right now? Winged or not?
Until we get a chance to actually read it here’s a quick 5 minute sketch this morning to illustrate the official Wyrd Science editorial line on this announcement
A good day to remind you all that you can spend £5.50 on a 28mm @countbinface.bsky.social model from Troublemaker Games, £3 of which goes to NHS supporting charities Now who is selling some frog faced fiends and a scale model pier for them to fight over? www.troublemakergames.co.uk/product-page...
What’s that Lassie? That account that posts occasionally amusing memes also produces a print magazine filled with longform articles covering everything from the history of Cold War TTRPGs to the esoteric secrets of Warhammer & fantasy metal bands? bit weird of them tbh wyrd.science/collections/...
And here’s this weekend’s haul We’re doing our bit to keep the print industry going, are you?
Annual pilgrimage to @raremags.bsky.social completed yesterday, lovely to see WS in the window, even if I managed to somehow close my eyes and point only vaguely in its direction like a total idiot in this photo. Anyway a wonderful store & great to be amongst such fine company. Do give ‘em a follow…
ok I’m really going to need you all to stop, drop & read this great feature by @lonlozzin.bsky.social for the @texasmonthly.bsky.social on all woman buhurt team the Dallas Mythics. All incredibly badass with some amazing photos by Chad Wadsworth to accompany it www.texasmonthly.com/culture/dall...
Look at us, posting DnD related memes like a real content creator
Gold standard monster zine from Goodbye Press I finally got my hands on
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in (pt. 34752)
See I was imagining the guy on the left’s death rattle, or indeed quack Like the sound I imagine a very old, very broken one of these might make produce
Sept 1986 issue of WD (no. 81), mentions new hardback & adventures in their GW’s Latest ad, also detail from an Esdevium Games (mail order store) ad
Like the look of this then grab copies here: thenottinghamhorrorcollective.co.uk
Flying visit to UK last weekend, picked up some great zines & various print stuff. Very into these from @tnhczine.bsky.social covering horror in all its seductive and subversive forms More pics & link 👇
Hey, stop doom scrolling, it’ll solve nothing. Why not instead grab yourself a BASIC emulator, download Usborne’s 1984 Weird Computer Games book & spend the afternoon making A WEIRD GAME, I mean that won’t solve anything too but it’s still a better use of your time drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxv0...
I 🖤 commissioning artists consider, if you will, buying more mags so I can commission more of the buggers to make more fun stuff like this* wyrd.science ----------------------- *this being by @bobgoblynn.bsky.social - he does colours real nice
Just in time for a spot of lunchtime reading on this scorching hot summer’s day, the summer issue of the wonderful @senetmagazine.bsky.social Support independent print media, support tabletop gaming magazines that work with real human writers and artists, support these lads
Re made it with yellow paper so now that it should be a lot more popular with the kids
alternative idea, we just give every kid a copy of a book like this and let a thousand blossoms bloom I'm also deadly serious, the most important books I ever owned as a kid were a variety of random hand me down 1970s/1980s activity books just filled with a weird mix of indoor & outdoor stuff to do
combat in your game is boring? sounds like a skill issue and you need to go back to school and experience the visceral thrill of throwing down a Dracula when some punk kid gets up in your grill with a Zetan Warlord
my biggest complaint about the Warhammer Soulbond RPG was that if you chose to play a Lumineth Realm Lord bloke you didn't get massive penalties for trying to wear that hat in any space with things like normal sized doors or other people
