Nah. These aren't "kid" influencers. These are parents monetizing their kids' activities. I highly doubt kids are seeking out "kid fitness" videos, especially those with a kid as young as 10.

This is the rub. It's never going to be 2000 again for newspapers. But it's better to retain & revise the Post-Gazette than to lose it entirely -- and dump more skilled journalists out of the industry.

From Tribune-Review story (4/14/26):
Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh President Andrew Goldstein said the sale was “definitely good news” but many questions remained unanswered.

“It’s pretty clear to us that they [the Venetoulis Institute] are saying the Post-Gazette in its current form isn’t sustainable,” Goldstein said.

Goldstein said the news was a “nice way” of talking about job cuts.

The Baltimore Banner reported Tuesday that the Venetoulis Institute is buying only the assets of the paper, and it is not required to assume the contracts of Block Communications.

Blazina, who stressed he was not speaking on behalf of the union, said staff was told there would be “conversations” over the next week regarding staffing sizes and job status.

So, I just realized one of my grandfathers had been in the U.S. for 16 years before he became a citizen in 1954. He was almost 17 when he arrived. By then, he was a married homeowner with two kids. Not sure I ever knew how long it took. Hits a hell of a lot differently these days. #PathToCitizenship

Karen Sutton, an orthopedic surgeon with the Hospital for Special Surgery who has worked with the U.S. ski team, said all downhill skiers have something like superhuman strength, given their ability to maintain speeds of 75 mph-95 mph as they fly down slopes with gradients potentially of 65 percent.

Alpine skiing, however, is what physicians refer to as a “Level II pivoting sport, meaning it has less quick, sharp pivoting than Level I pivoting sports like soccer or basketball,” Sutton wrote in a text message.

“When an ACL is not functioning, an athlete recruits all of these muscles to try to counterbalance instability of the knee. The muscles have to be strong and powerful enough to combat extremes of G-forces down the mountain,” Sutton wrote.

“A skier with lightning reaction time, massive muscle recruitment, experience in the sport and the help of a functional ACL brace would be best equipped to attempt a downhill course without an ACL.”
