Bush plane all the way to Gates of the Arctic NP, Alaska a scant 168 miles off the grid. Nothing else in our life quite said remote like the once in a lifetime adventure. #ParkChat
First Rocky Mountain NP at 21 I believe Most recent Canyonlands NP June 9th
They think they are all flat-lacking significant contours. #ParkChat
It’s gotta have some of that red rock right? Tonight I’m going to vote for Arches NP doesn’t it? #ParkChat I hikes to take every one.
@ntlparkposters.bsky.social Who thinks this gentleman would benefit from guest hosting from #ParkChat? Plus enjoy himself?
From the Badlands there’s always Wall Drug. Or you can go to the nearby B&B you’re staying at and take a few pics. #ParkChat
Badlands NP is busy, though the South unit isn’t. Really want and part is the Park to yourself? Go it the winter. #ParkChat
Easy easy to see the sites and suggest wildlife to search for at Badlands NP #ParkChat
We spent the night there, but in a cabin. #ParkChat Definitely remote. We were the only “tourists”
I know it’s West but Yucca House National Monument covers approximately 194 acres. The monument protects one of the largest and largely unexcavated Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in southwestern Colorado. It’s a little hard to find too. #ParkChat
Just there in February for the second time. #ParkChat Had some great fried chicken in MS too.
I believe we spent three full days there back in 2014. We’ve longed to go back but so far no dice. #ParkChat
Please show your gratitude to @babyboomersaves.bsky.social for presenting such an excellent chat. They are great people too. Stay out there and you’ll meet them. They are prolific travelers.
Effective immediately we are offering the chat once a month on the second Wednesday of the month. Our next chat is therefore scheduled for July 8th. We want to go back to weekly and if the participation project works we will. #ParkChat
Welcome to a special “Changes at #ParkChat” edition at #ParkChat featuring @naturetechfam.bsky.social and me. The main theme tonight is participation. Buckle up! #ParkChat
But yes indeedy we have. #ParkChat Utah, Missouri and Arkansas with @naturetechfam.bsky.social
Winter break for beaches please. I don’t think we’ve ever been to a beach in the summer. Honeymoon Beach at USVI NP in February I believe. #ParkChat
Just finished one to WY, CO, UT and NM. Here are some random pics from each state. Lots of fun. Lots of driving.
If Yucca House NM, CO is not for you, head over to Aztec Ruins National Monument in Aztec, New Mexico. The ruins all well preserved and interpreted and easy to get to and access. #ParkChat
Today we went to Yucca House National Monument near Cortez, CO. Sounds impressive but as you see there’s not a not to it. It’s a Pueblo ruin with no modern investigation yet. About ten people visit daily based on the sign-in’s. There’s no staff-you use private property to get there. #ParkChat
All of our battlefield parks represent deep transitions. The end of this Mississippi battle on 7/04/1863 was a date of significant change in the US #ParkChat
We went to four+ new Parks this week. #ParkChat I can’t keep up with the photos. Or Shelly.
