#TourDeFleece2026 happening during the World Cup has been very useful but now I'm too tense to keep spinning tonight so this will do for now
Delving into the stash for some colour to work with today - when I remember to prepare things properly they spin up so much better! Think this will be really nice plied with the natural cream I've been spinning so far. #TourDeFleece
#TourDeFleece2026 Day 5 finished up with me winding off the end of the Exmoor and rocketing on with a fresh spin, which was very satisfying!
Day 3 of #tourdefleece2026 and what with still being exhausted from the football and being distracted by the diaries earlier mentioned, it's just a little spin today, but I did start picking over some fresh fleece to crack on with so hoping I do more tomorrow!
#tourdefleece Day 2 went well, F1 gave me plenty of time to spin, and this stuff is just a delight, it's lovely and dense and catching so easily #tourdefleece2026
Early blackberries are ready! A bit on the bright and tasty side, but they'll cook up nicely with apples and a bit of sugar. Looks like it's going to be a fantastic year for them, I am going to practice jam...
A bit of a slow start to #tourdefleece2026 - needed to wash some more fleece first, so was delighted to open up this mystery bag I bought about three years' ago to find it's in great condition! Prepped some elderly bits of Exmoor Horn so I could get started with at least a few lengths. #tourdefleece
The pumpkins have been doing SO well this week, and as we catch up with #GardenersWorld Monty has just explained that they love "plenty of water, and plenty of heat" so all this Weather has actually been perfect for them! #allotmemttales
#allotmenttales flowers are everywhere this morning! Things have, to our surprise, thrived in the heatwave. 🌱
The Ninja Creami really is one of humanity's greatest inventions, just after the decaf coffee
ohhhhhh you and me both - I had one of these and I think it was probably my favourite ever phone...
Added some alt text for you, @vikkislademp.bsky.social - and keep up the good work ❤️
At your service! Excellent in a ham sandwich, but I most often have it with new potatoes.
Alas it's not the best story as I didn't get it myself! My parents' friends were TV producers and they used to give me random stuff from work, including this XD
#allotmenttales first tomatoes are in the polytunnel, along with two chilli plants! The soil in here is basically dust and terrible quality, so I've mixed it with soaked woodchip and a fantastic layer of slime I dragged out of the bath-pond at the top of the plot. Let's see what happens!
P brought me in this extraordinary rose from the garden earlier - couldn't recall seeing anything quite like it before but there was immediately a similar, more pink one, in Frances' garden at Chelsea 🌷
Sorry, I wouldn't usually put this man in your TL, but we are up to five damning headlines in a row in a mainstream British newspaper.
Today's #allotmenttales - cleared the last pre-existing "raised bed" - think we will do outdoor tomatoes in this! 🌱
It has been a long and stressful day and this is just absolutely the thing, delicious.
This weekend I've been spinning the most beautiful, light, fluffy golden alpaca fleece on my smallest dropspindle - comes up so slender and really quite strong. Very enjoyable. #dropspinning #spinsky #handspunyarn
Probably the film fewest people have seen when I mention it. I adore this film, it is a barrel of very well-made young dystopian foolishness with a tragic end, and I must've seen it at least 250 times. We have had the kettle (not a typo) for 27 years now, it's called Jude.
Stretching the concept of medieval fayre somewhat, I am nonetheless intrigued by Apocalypse Bao
...it was horseradish, you were right. Now I see why you're not allowed to grow it "uncontained"! So...any ideas what to do with a LOT of horseradish?! This photo is just the start, I think I got about 10kg out of the ground so far and there's absolutely more to come... #allotmenttales
Good morning 🌱#gardensky - anyone know what this is? Left over in the allotment and from being very rooty, it's suddenly done a lot of leaves... #allotmenttales
Planted the blackcurrant bush in the allotment yesterday, hoping it will be as happy as when we planted it in the ground in the last garden where we had a tremendous crop. We have another one we're keeping in a pot in our little house garden, too. 🌱 (Potatoes in under the canes...) #allotmenttales
Apart from the previous post, have fully cleared out a bed now! This soil is gorgeous, clearly the result of a lot of work from the long-gone previous owner (cannot fully describe just HOW clay the ground is)... #allotmenttales (mute if you don't care about this topic, will try to tag in future!)
