This is my old apartment complex. Over the course of 5 years it went from a nice place to live to a hell that gave me literal hallucinations for months after I moved out. One of ACORN's rare weekend events, worth showing up for.

Sorry lol I was staring at it instead of refreshing the page before I commented. Still feels like a lot of places it goes through a line of houses. I'd suggest starting with 3 ped underpasses, beefing up existing paths, & using them for these corridors funneling toward UPs with 3-5 new short paths
Corroborating evidence: here's an excerpt from the 1878 Hopkins City Atlas, Plate S (found at archives.novascotia.ca/maps/hopkins/) showing buildings going up to the street. The streets are a bit differently named, but I can't tell if it's older or newer bc Robie is like now but Charles is worse 😂

Good question. Here's the original lots (afaik) on West in the part pictured (Robie is on top). From counting I believe those are double the width of the existing lots, which would make the original ROW super wide - I could easily believe they subdivided it to make the sidewalk, even.
I think, to your point, the decline of the particular type of person I'm describing aligns pretty well chronologically with it being any amount more acceptable for women to have any other special interest whatsoever. At some point the brain probably does this or you got Sent Somewhere, unfortunately
That being said, there are systems that other places just call trams that we might call LRT, just like there are systems that other places call "the bus" that we might call BRT. So, like, whatever, give me the choochoo

Another nice-to-have while doing bumpouts is differently paved bays. You can see in this random street in suburban Utrecht their bays use pavers, so for longer ones you still get a cue. Notably this is a minor COLLECTOR, because otherwise it's hard to find anything remotely analogous to our streets.

It sounds like just clever wordplay, but is a real paradox to consider; physical barriers and infrastructural exclusion are both barriers & they both hinder movement. But one is targeting the repressed, the other is challenging the dominant. Abolition is also possible when you remove the dominance!
