I don’t normally share the New York Post but good writing is good writing
The thing about UFC is everyone expects fighters with long histories to have some sort of Rocky or Raging Bull or Cody Rhodes moment but usually they end like this. The only real unique thing about it is McGregor got booed mercilessly in person and laughed at online
One of the tricky parts of LAPD ending its relationship with Flock is that they’re due to discuss their relationship with Flock on Tuesday during a commission meeting. As part of it they released an OIG report that was… not kind to Flock overall. abc7.com/post/lapd-en...
I would just like to point out Rivera, who told residents of Boyle Heights that he’s upset too because “our building burned down,” made more than 4 million dollars last year / more than 13 million dollars the year before according to SEC filings. 2024 Boyle heights median household income: $59,530
One red flag from LAPD’s OIG report on ALPRs / Flock: “The Department could not produce documentation establishing the contractual authority that identify applicable data-sharing terms and other governing provisions. The absence of formal agreements is particularly concerning…”
One of the major takeaways from an OIG report on ALPR (license plate readers): In just two months last year, 161 inaccurate flags from ALPRs led to LAPD officers’ “subsequent investigation determined that the vehicles had not been stolen” Likely this means a stop or detainment.
In case you’re wondering why the space for the City Attorney here is unsigned, so does LAPD’s OIG.
And here is the MOU signed between Flock and LAPD for a six month term, signed January 23, 2025
For several years, activists as well as journalist have said it’s difficult to obtain copies of the Memorandum of Understanding between LAPD and Flock. Here is the memorandum of understanding between LAPD and Flock. Dated 6.11.23 and for a three year term.
The owners of Scum & Villainy, a Sci-Fi / Star Wars theme bar in Hollywood, are crowdfunding for the opening of “Rendezvous.” They claim 20% year over year growth on the investment site. In an article they claim they’re barely hanging on, and negotiated rent reduction.
Mayor Bass saying that there’s time for 5 more questions. Saying that she is in a who can yell louder contest. Saying that this fire and the city having residential and industrial areas in close contact is environmental discrimination.
As residents scream “where is the apology,” a lineage executive said they “started with an apology.” Stating they’re giving out housing vouchers with assistance from the city. There are still people who have not been given air conditioners or purifiers. The crowd is still booing.
Carlos Montes, a member of community action group Centro CSO and co-founder of the Brown Berets, just asked the panel if the city would commit to no longer allowing Lineage to operate in the wake of the fires. Cheers from crowd. No one on the town hall panel had a response.
The Lineage Fire representative just said to the Boyle Heights residents affected by the fire and resulting bio waste and smoke “I know you’re upset. We’re upset too. Our building burned down.” I sent this to a friend who works PR and their response was “wait did they actually say this?”
A representative for Lineage still being booed by Boyle Heights residents. Saying that the air. Claiming that the air is safe. At this point I’m going to resort to describing boos of different pitches. This answer is the highest pitched boo, and people are screaming “no,” repeatedly at him.
Councilmember Jurado now introducing the operations manager for Lineage, the company that owned the cold storage facility that was on fire. REALLY loud boos.
Los Angeles Councilmember Jurado also being roundly booed at this Lineage Fire town hall, and appears visibly shaken. Saying that just two years ago she was “on the other side” of the “movement.” Acknowledging that there has been “communication errors” regarding the smoke inhalation resources.
Mayor Bass saying above some pretty loud boos that she “apologizes for any confusion,” regarding communication about the health risks of smoke. Saying that Boyle Heights will “be made whole.” Mentioning the centers (that are not open outside of 9am-5pm).
LA Mayor Karen Bass continuing to be booed loudly by the residents impacted by the Lineage Fire in Boyle Heights at this town hall. A brief pause in the speech as Karen Bass tells the crowd “if you want to listen, clap once,” then plays a clapping game with the audience. The booing beginning again.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass getting a lot of very audible boos from the crowd at the Lineage Fire community town hall in Boyle Heights. Some cheers, many very loud boos. LOUD boos.
Officials at the lineage fire / Boyle heights resident now asking in English for bilingual people to tell people in Spanish how to get a translator if the headset isn’t working.
Ok the meeting with LA officials and Lineage reps with residents regarding the fire in Boyle Heights and fallout has begun. I have a reporter for the Ten Four out there but I’ll throw a few things in as live tweets. School official beginning. Boos can be heard audibly.
Also bears mentioning that this man has also interviewed celebrities as well as mayoral candidates within Los Angeles while organizing marches. But onto a little more info regarding Save Our Children, then I have to go back to actual writing on a piece you all might love (or hate I dunno anymore)
Here’s another portion of a video posted by occasional “save our children” organizer and street journalist “InTheStreetsLA” wherein a man identifies himself as Johnny holding a “Goyim’s Revenge” sign identifies InTheStreets as a goyim to laughs. “We need to get together. No more talking.”
Among the organizers for Save Our Children type things in Los Angeles is “InTheStreetsLA” who organized an event (several other LA leftish journalists boosted). In another video he laughs as a man describes who “they” that are “in charge” is and captioned it with lightning bolts.
Though groups like Save Our Children and American Reich will often say they’re all inclusive, even a cursory search of their social media will find posts with dog whistles towards trans or Jewish people. Here’s a clip of a video from a founder discussing “lies” about World War 2.
The “Save Our Children” organization was a major force in Q Anon and adjacent circles going back to even before 2020. It also wasn’t uncommon to see members of groups like the Proud Boys. There’s also to my eye a growing acceptance of “save the children” memes among sectors in LA’s left.
Q-anon conspiracy adjacent groups American Reich, Save Our Children and several others are planning an “all-American family picnic” at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Recreation Center in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. They’re encouraging attendees to bring diapers and canned foods. Let’s talk about ‘em.
So now it appears as though doors *open* at 6pm, and “limited seating is available,” “early arrival is encouraged,” and “Priority entry for those living in the immediately impacted community” according to the city’s website.
I asked what people should do outside of business hours re: health clinics for those affected by the lineage fire. Mayor’s office: “Thank you for your second quesiton. The town hall will feature a resource fair for residents -- it will begin at 6:00 PM.” (The notice said town hall begins at 6:30)
