🎖️💜🪖 The 33 members of the 109th Field Artillery Battalion, Pennsylvania National Guard - They gave the ultimate sacrifice when the troop train they were aboard was derailed after a passenger train crashed into them in West Lafayette, in the early morning of September 11, 1950.
🎖️💜🪖 #Army Pvt. Eugene “Gene” Jesse Appleby - Gave the ultimate sacrifice after parachuting into The Netherlands as a part of Operation Market Garden during World War II. MIA until 2011, and interred in South Lawn Cemetery in 2017.
🎖️💜⚓️ #Navy CPO Raymond J. Border - Gave the ultimate sacrifice during the War in Afghanistan when he stepped on an IED while inspecting a road in the eastern portion of the country.

One of my favorite authors @danielkraus.com won the fricking @pulitzerprizes.bsky.social for fiction for his 2025 novel “Angel Down” that is technically one sentence!! I listened audiobook narrated by Kirby Heyborne in August of last year!! 📖Congrats Daniel! 🎉 1/2 ⬇️

Seeing a lot of posts regretting Al Gore wasn’t elected in 2000. Proud to say my family did vote for him. I’d have been 9 on Election Day, and just turned 10 the day before Inauguration Day in 2001. I remember, even at 9, being devestated when Florida flipped and SCOTUS sided with Bush.
