Inspector Sands
@achoron
A British alternative type in the Midlands. Cookery, RPGs, comics and strangeness. Not necessarily in that order.
This feels very @terrypratchett.bsky.social. Possibly deliberately. Would you like some avec with that?
When did your obsession with hot toxic women begin? I fully endorse the previous post. But also...
New @kneecapceol.bsky.social single Liars Tale is very rude about Keir Starmer. I thought the lads were supposed to be controversial and edgy. At this point, given their respective popularity, it's almost like they're punching down. Almost. (To be clear, it's a great track with a strong message)
Deadnaming assholes and hypocrites still sends a message that deadnaming is a valid tactic... just as long as it's aimed at a scumbag. Which makes the rights and wrongs of it subjective. Can't say I'm comfortable with that.
This menace applied for the job a decade ago. Apart from the random scratches and disasters, it seems to be working out.
This was Sultana's post to X and Facebook two days ago. Bit of a disconnect.
"No cheating. Your last saved celebrity photo is your therapist. Who is it?" ...well. That'll end well.
2. Thud! (Terry Pratchett) There's no shortage of Pratchett books that could go onto this list. Some others might join it later. But let's start with this one. Extremism, historical feuds, building bridges... Vimes becoming what he was always going to be. And Mr Shine. Him diamond!
1. Espedair Street (Iain Banks) There are a lot of Banks novels I really, really like. But this is one I love. Dan Weir's rich and lonely and broken. A former rock star living in Glasgow as "Jimmy Hay", pretending to be his own caretaker. This is how he got there. This is what happens next.
I mean, that's an impressive display of 'PR skills' from Team Starmer. Just not a positive one.
Re-reading David Hare's scathing play about the Iraq War and its aftermath, "Stuff Happens". Feels like it's about time for a revival.
There are other bands who made an impact more recently, but only one gets saint status and dozens of "they played here" blue plaques. And only one wrote Ghost Town, the city's unofficial anthem.
"Vindaloo F1" is a relatively new chilli pepper variety. Pretty hot, looks striking, developed in the UK. Naturally, it's *named after* the style of curry. Whereas google's AI search assistant claims it's "popular in Indian cuisine", especially for vindaloo curries. AI slop strikes again.
It's now in top stories - but only linking to that article, despite the main page headline.
