@acjuniper
I'm here as a beginner poet. Also a wife, teen boy-mom, non-practicing physician, rare chronic illness patient, philosophical thinker. ENFJ/INTP Canadian living in Treaty 6 territory and hikes/runs/scrambles the Rocky Mountains in Treaty 7 whenever I can.
The poem quoted below by @imnotherenow.bsky.social resonated with me, so I wrote the following responsive one.
Thank you! What have you been working on instead? And here's another wild rosebush from yesterday for you:
I am over a week late for the #PoetsOfDoom #GreekGods prompt and over a year late for the #WildWalk #Rose one, but since it's been on my mind and in various photos on my device for around a year now, here is my #sonnet ! @sonnetsmith.bsky.social
This #haiku is inspired by getting lost while orienteering because I am bad at map reading - but it's still so much fun! My friend wasn't able to make it out to the event yesterday, and it's more fun getting lost with her. I decided to leave it as an open metaphor in the post.
#PoetsOfDoom #dansa Disappointment!!! Dave, I'm sorry to fail you, but at least I'm accepting both reality and my limits? @daveashleypoet.bsky.social @sonnetsmith.bsky.social @jenthorne.bsky.social @phylogeneticsteve.bsky.social
This is an excerpt from an unfinished poem I wrote a couple of months ago. Is it edgy enough, @jenthorne.bsky.social @daveashleypoet.bsky.social @phylogeneticsteve.bsky.social @sonnetsmith.bsky.social ? #PoetsOfDoom #HandThatRocksTheCradle #WhenTheBoughBreaks
Well crafted and evocative. So much so, that I can't help responding to just a subtheme.
@poetkatiratejeda.bsky.social and @oyoguhito.bsky.social I did it! I made a sand angel today! In a playground, since that's where we have the best sand. The only sand? And, well, I think I now know why sand angels aren't a thing. 😂
I'm really late, but here's Number 2 #PoetsOfDoom #acrostic Poem for Silt Awareness Day Glaciers recede Leaving A Cirque or basin Impression in high Alpine slopes where Lakes collect meltwater Silt suspensions In the water makes Light reflect brilliant Turquoise
I actually don't know anything about the #7SyllableSentance prompt, but some that I read about #prickle got stuck in my head, and then this happened: A prickle in my britches; And a prickle in my sock. Last fall's prickles in mid spring! It was still well worth the walk.
I actually wrote this last week... The top 3 triads can be read in any order, or, all can circle, with the bottom one as last. #poetry #community #BlueskyPoets #thankful Thinking of how much this community means to me, and how, when I am unable to reciprocate, I can trust someone else here will.
#poetsofdoom Number 1 Silt Awareness Day is a rapturous day, set not by time, but spatial: it is every day you get to see a lake with silt that’s glacial. Yes! SILT is the secret ingredient to these waters’ wondrous hue! And since I’m sharing a picture here, today is Silt Awareness Day for you!
We're finally getting our first signs of spring here! First leaves, first flowers, first goslings.
#poetry #chronicillness #despair #grief This was written a few years ago when my condition took a downward turn, and I was relatively incapacitated for a couple of months. I always find loss of myself the hardest. When the real me is gone, but the rest of me remains.
What a great photo! And, of course, I'm jealous. Here is my picture of the only outdoor flower around right now:
I was inspired by @sonnetsmith.bsky.social to also share the audio for this poem/ditty. Context: with snowfall in April (as in my last post) while roads can be icy and treacherous one day, the sun is warm enough to make them normal by the next. Unfortunately, the sun doesn't do this to drivers.
We don't plant here until sometime in May when it is unlikely to freeze at night. April snow releases moisture slowly to keep the soil ready until temperatures warm up enough. It decreases wildfire risk the same way, which is becoming increasingly important.
Thank you Steve! But, um, is a "z"(zed) better or worse than a "c"?😜 I am happy with this one, especially since it came from the happenstance of seeing this when I looked up from Jen's prompt:
Bare branches Lament Openly of Sinister Snow’s Oppression MEANWHILE Back in bonny Britian, BRAGGARTS Laud Ostentatiously their Sweet Spring’s Overflowing Magic! BITTERNESS!! Lugubriously On-hold, we Seethe, screaming: STOP SNOWING! OH, MELT ALREADY!!! Images: today & my poor junipers and rocks!
