Last month, we were in 📍Princeton for AAPI New Jersey's Asian American Leadership Summit! This summit brought together Asian American leaders, including ACLU-NJ Executive Director Amol Sinha and Senior Policy Strategist Ami Kachalia, to discuss community needs and build collective power.

In the last year and half, the U.S. has seen a profound escalation in immigration enforcement. Due process violations and violence carried out by masked agents endanger us all. It's clear: the Trump administration's mass detention and deportation agenda must be stopped.

Today, in 1965, the federal Voting Rights Act was signed into law. This landmark legislation outlawed discriminatory voting practices. But over the years, it has been eviscerated by the Supreme Court, leaving voters across the country, especially voters of color, vulnerable.

Immigration agents' abuses are rampant, but ACLU state affiliates across the country are coordinating an all-out effort to hold these agents accountable. We won't let justice be delayed any longer.

This week, we were in📍Trenton celebrating the signing of the John R. Lewis Voter Empowerment Act of New Jersey! 🗳️🗳️ The NJVEA expands ballot access and enacts some of the strongest state-level protections against tactics that suppress and dilute the political power of voters of color.

Yesterday, we joined over 1,000 students in📍Washington D.C. to urge Congress to pass the Dream and Promise Act now. This bill will create a pathway to citizenship for millions of people who have built a life in this country and are American in every way but on paper.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to live, work, and live freely. We’ll never stop fighting for that right.

Justice Jackson is right. This is thankfully the end of the road for President Trump and his allies' unconstitutional attempt to rewrite the 14th Amendment. Birthright citizenship is a settled case — again.

The Supreme Court just upheld the 14th Amendment’s promise that if you’re born here, you are a citizen. President Trump’s effort to upend birthright citizenship has been struck down for good.

Two months after the end of the Civil War, Union troops went to Galveston Bay, TX to free over 250,000 enslaved people & enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the freedom of enslaved Black people in Texas & recognizes the work we must do as a country to preserve Black liberation.

Delaney Hall must be shut down NOW. We joined the House Homeland Security Committee for a hearing about Delaney Hall where we provided witness testimony on the deplorable conditions inside the facility and called for its immediate closure.
