I've been researching for a year for an essay on men carrying feminine capital such as aesthetic beauty under patriarchy and in male dominated circles like the entertainment and especially the music industry. It might be my life's work at this point. I finally started to write a week ago and well...

There's a lot to talk about how fangirls especially in music drive the industry with their purchase and attention power (thanks @hannahrose__) but how the industry denigrates them (cause: misogyny) and how a derivative of that misogyny impacts the aforementioned men.

I'm thinking Bowie, I'm thinking Prince and yep, the background of this post.

Hopefully I manage to stop thinking and start writing/filming soon. If you have any ideas or opinions about it feel free to DM me.

I won't lie. This fucking essay is becoming painful and emotional to write. I just spent an hour crying angrily at that poor excuse for a woman, let alone feminist, that is Germaine Greer, who in 2002 decided to simply repurpose the male gaze on young boys for the supposed enjoyment of women, literally replicating patriarchal objectification and hierarchy but with her and anyone who bought her book "the beautiful boy". I despise being included in any category that I light share with her.

And here I am trying to find not only dignity that men with supposedly feminine capital like beauty should recognise, but to extend an olive branch to them showing that yes, patriarchy (not feminists) hurt you too. Maybe it's worth fighting it together? Except so far, once they hit 30 they think hyper masculinise and hypersexualisation is how they get the respect patriarchy didn't give them when their beauty put them in close proximity to women than men.

I feel like I'm fighting windmills...

This is going to become longer (but more interesting) than my MA dissertation (which fun fact: was in music business management). In my house I scream at David (Bowie) and Andy (Biersack) about ten times a day. Still, I guarantee (with bibliographic receipts) that both David and Andy get more girls than any macho who called them fags. And that in a nutshell is why patriarchy is a castle of cards.

If i haven't shared much since before the holidays it's because for weeks now I've felt like this must have been what Italy was like at the beginning of 1940.

And now we are at the stage where people are killed in broad daylight in the US by the modern black shirts that are ICE. And we can just sit back and wonder how we got this far and this bad when the entire infrastructure of the community has been eroded SINCE WWII. Whereas my grandparents could live off of their allotment and exchange food in war times, what will we do? Capitalism moved to neoliberalism closed us up in offices and slowly eroded any kind of actual survival skill we had because we are so much easier to be rounded up like this.

And when someone who's as attached to life as myself with my thanatophobia, to have to consider "do I know how to exit on my own terms?" Is truly dire.

Check the Alt text. TL;DR when white women understand that "cis, white, and dainty" means pretty, in the same breath as they deny their pretty privilege got them anything.

I can't imagine the level of coddling I would have been given had I been born cis, white, and dainty. And I know because I so very much wanted to be those things and I myself have associated those characteristics with good qualities because society says so, that I myself will coddle cis white and dainty people while they literally deny my experience of marginalisation because I'm not cis, not white, and not dainty. The irony is absolutely not lost on me.
I was raised on Manga.
There's no people who look like me in manga.
And one wonders why I have body dysmorphia uh? At least I'm finally writing the essay on the matter I've been putting off for 4 years...
