I have only one draft. I think I just didn’t feel like making this statement the day I thought of it.
Is it not common to have any sort of volume measurement tools in the UK? Like not even a little container that shows you how many ml of thing it has in it? I'm in Canada, we have measuring cups that have both imperial and metric marked on them.
Sometimes, game dev YouTube videos provide useful insight that can help even experienced developers. Other times, they’re the equivalent of this.
Background sketching done at the kitchen table while simultaneously playing pretend with my kids. I'll either look back at this as the start of making real backgrounds I like or another failed experiment. But I will look back on it.
Some children’s fantasy novels are good, such as this series I just finished for the first time at age 37 (via audiobook, because I needed it read to me).
Doing the level design arrows drawing thing (which I'm usually not fond of) to show how changing the lighting here changes how you perceive/navigate the space here. The important staircase is no longer readable as a staircase and two random doors (that probably go nowhere?) look more important.
Hastily thrown together in that "I'm probably forgetting something" kind of way, but here it is. More of an impact grid than a favourites grid, but I do like all these games a lot. my9games.com
More than half of these hours are my 6 year old son playing Smash and Mario Party on my account. He can now beat me at Smash sometimes.
And here’s another recent victory. This one was very hard fought, felt smart for cracking it.
Won Balatro with a High Card strat… so fast that I didn’t even realize I was about to win.
I think this says I like indie rock with female singers and varying degrees of weirdness.
The unobscured Joker line-up. I knew it had potential with Burglar + Shortcut. Mime + Barron was a late-game synergy pairing that helped get me over the line. Everything else was also important, just less explicitly complimentary.
Black Deck, Gold Stake. Took so long that it made me question if this game is even good. Felt the most “I’m just hoping I get lucky” of every deck/stake so far. Satisfying to finally beat it though.
Very WIP but I feel like I'm getting somewhere with this... I had a mini breakthrough when sketching potential cut scenes (still image kind) for my game, realizing it's not actually hard and overwhelming to attempt to draw in perspective. Got me excited about doing them, so I started on one.
