I don't review code written by agents. I measure things like test coverage, dependency structure, cyclomatic complexity, module sizes, mutation testing, etc.

Much can be inferred about the quality of the code from those metrics. The code itself I leave to the AI.

Humans are slow at code. To get productivity we humans need to disengage from code and manage from a higher level.

Today while labeling data, I came across an image of a person sleeping on a sidewalk late at night in the streets of USA.
For a moment, it stopped being just another annotation. Beyond the bounding boxes was a human being with a story I'll never know.
This is the hidden side of data labeling.
Every day, data labelers review millions of images and videos that capture the full spectrum of humanity—from joy and celebration to poverty and hardship. With every annotation, we help AI learn to understand the world, while quietly processing the realities we encounter along the way.

Earlier this month, the PIs of the RESHAPE Lab joined top researchers from around the world at the NII Shonan Meeting #222 in Japan to discuss how AI Foundation Models are reshaping software engineering.
The discussions tackled bold questions:
* What happens to the IDE when code is no longer central?
* What role will developers play when AI agents can generate, fix, and evolve systems?
* How do we keep humans meaningfully in the loop?
Throughout the session, one idea resonated: the future IDE isn’t just a tool. it’s a partner. AI will evolve how we build, not replace who builds. The challenge is ensuring this evolution remains human-centered.
