If Jindra thought, after all of Trump's documented lies, that the ONLY people who would be targeted were people who entered the country without papers and then committed crimes, then Jindra was a fool.

“The allure of the MAGA campaign was around illegal entries of criminals,” said Mr. Jindra, 48. “There was never a mandate for this president to turn the barrel of the gun and start going after people who legally entered.”

If Jindra thought, after all of Trump's documented lies, that the ONLY people who would be targeted were people who entered the country without papers and then committed crimes, then Jindra was a fool.

I don't even believe him. I think "Mr. Jindra considered himself a MAGA patriot until his wife’s detention.

“She did not jump a wall, she did not swim a river,” he said. “She came in Trump’s beautiful, big front door.” I think when he says "jump a wall/swim a river" he is displaying racial animus. I think he believed his beautiful White Russian wife would be immune.

This man and his wife are human beings just like me but I must confess I am struggling to not call Jindra a damn fool.

Galina Bobreneva and her husband Brent Jindra at their home in Redwood City, California: Brent Jindra, a tech salesman, voted for President Trump three times, drawn by his aggressive immigration agenda. He never imagined the crackdown would ensnare his own wife.

Last month, moments after the couple got off their flight in Burbank, Calif., a young man in a brown hooded sweatshirt stopped Galina Bobreneva.

“Congratulations, you’ve been chosen for secondary screening,” he told her, according to the couple’s recollection.

The man was a federal agent, and after questioning Ms. Bobreneva for about 15 minutes, he led her away in handcuffs to an unmarked vehicle.

“I’m only doing my job,” he said. “Everything will be OK.”

So began a 16-day ordeal: a night on the floor of a basement holding cell in downtown Los Angeles; two weeks in a Mojave Desert detention center and a frantic legal effort to win her release.

Freed on a $35,000 bond with an electronic monitor clamped to her ankle, she is now fighting to stay in the United States against federal charges of overstaying her visa.

Ms. Bobreneva, who is from Russia, has a pending green card application, and her lawyer asserts that she was never out of lawful status.

Her case represents a new front in President Trump’s mass deportation drive: arrests at airports of people whose visas have expired but who have active immigration cases and no criminal history.

You could get dressed up and go out on a date and try to find someone to sleep with, or you could scroll your feed and watch pornography at home and not have to make all of that effort and fear rejection. So the technological climate has a lot to do with it.

What would the description say that the built in read-text-from image would not already say? There were no pictures or illustrations. Just text.

Yes, Android phones can easily read text in images, whether you are viewing a picture in your gallery, scrolling through social media, or looking at a live photo. You can either extract and copy the text or have your phone read the text aloud using accessibility tools. - In the time it took YOU to chastise me for not posting to YOUR standards anyone could have used the BUILT IN FREE feature on the iphone or android phone to read the text within the image via OCR. There were no pictures or illustrations to describe. It was ALL TEXT which means OCR (before even AI came on the scene) could and can read it. Why are you policing how I post?

Legal experts say the precedent set by the Prairieland convictions will have myriad consequences for organizing and protest, including the platforms organizers rely on to safely do that work, like the secure messaging app Signal. After the justice department used the app to gather evidence against the Prairieland defendants, Apple has since responded by patching a security bug that had allowed the government to view previously deleted messages.

A local chapter of 50501, one of the groups behind the No Kings protests, was also implicated in the Prairieland trial. A witness for the government who claimed to be part of the decentralized movement testified for the prosecution about working with law enforcement during a protest at the same location earlier on the Fourth of July. However, Hunter Dunn, a national press coordinator for 50501, said he has been unable to reach that individual, and that she doesn’t speak on behalf of the group. “The average 50501 group does not have a relationship with law enforcement,” said Dunn.

Another local 50501 affiliate was named in the recent Minneapolis protest indictment. Dunn, citing the Brennan Center for Justice, said the FBI is using the Trump administration’s NSPM-7 memo to categorize any leftist protest as “domestic terrorism”. In doing so, they’re “using that meaningless, vacuous description to justify going after protesters that make them personally uncomfortable, or that they fear may lead to the eventual end of their administration by nonviolent means”.
