Been watching my nephew while wfh and have they changed the soap formula for bubbles? Shit seems so much more robust and shiny than what I remember from childhood
Fascinating to see the swing in the type of crowds between Indy weekend, Vintage Bike weekend and then Super Bike weekend
That thread always seems the most interesting, with the actual MC being bland, generic power fantasy wish fulfilment bullshit. I always end up getting bored and skimming 4/5s of the story just to get back to the childhood friend because it's the only bit with emotional juice.
With the manga/LN sub-genre of "Talented but downtrodden MC left abusive childhood friend and staked out on their own" (fantasy or IRL), really wish there was a more serious Josei version that specifically focused on the childhood friend and their self-reflection, journey, and growth as a person.
Must be interesting to have the main legacy of your cathedral being the place where Martin Luther was ordained aaaaand where 60 nobles drowned in shit after the floor in the bathroom collapsed.
Oh neat, didn't realize that The Wailing director has a new movie coming out and it has Fassbender too
Tfw you tell the barber to surprise you and they assume you are 24 instead of 30 and give you a zoomer fade/whitewalls rather than something respectable for a millennial.
Weird to me that some studios will push a really graphically advanced game but have the unskippable start screens and even cutscenes be super compressed ~900p30 video. Why go through the effort for such a polished game and have the first thing players see and how you announce yourself be so rough?
Been doing the math and honestly really surprised how little water AWS/Amazon AI shit is using considering the absolute scale and insane amount of the web backbone/infrastructure they entail. Like just the water consumption of 82k which is like .8% of any city that matters or .02% Ag.
Like a third of a way through a concerted effort to play every Zelda game chronologically, including the Zelda forward CD-i one and what not, this summer since the franchise was, on one hand, foundational to me and on the other I had major blind spots (also did 1HKO randomizers for ones I know well)
Warms my heart that at any Miata race, there will always be one with a Lightning McQueen livery
With the UE6 announcement, I went and checked the list of UE5 games: A. Kinda surprised at the amount of them (~700) B. Despite memes about performance and same-y looks, a lot of really performant and uniquely beautiful games in there, including some I played and didn't even realize was UE5
I got around to reading Blade and Bastard. I didn't realize it was explicitly a Wizardry story. With the first couple references I had just assumed, knowing the author, they were some heavy nudges and winks towards the material for fans rather than it being an official use of the setting.
Got a game project basically done on the back end but torn on presentation. As something that's an homage to PC-98/DOS games, on one hand I really want to have base resolution tied to a pseudo historic resolution that integer scales well to modern displays, letting pixel art/crt emulators work.
Will say, a big bugaboo of mine is the weird pop definition shift of media literacy to be that there is only basically one valid read on a piece of media, effectively killing off death of the author, alternative frameworks, and subtext, which is also something that's had a bad definition shift.
Finally got around to reading Theresa Raquin after having that as one of my bigger classic lit blindspots. Really enjoyable, you can definitely see its influence in later works. Also makes me curious how much is lost in translation and curse my ability to only kinda read ~2-3 languages.
Tried NtE, wasn't expecting it to have a surprising amount of Control flavor to it
Also always super neat the birds and opposite birds coexisted in the same niche for tens of millions of years with the latter dominating until the K-Pg allowed birds to expand and fill that niche.
Is it a hot take to say that Bioshock 2 is not only significantly better gameplay-wise but narratively too?
Should have a course in highschool on how the different types of backbone infrastructure actually functions and what goes into it. Tier 1 ISP, telecom, electrical, payment processors, stock exchange, etc. Be a good pair to a robust civics course and allow for informed discourse and voting on issues.
Watching some cert training vids and I'm 99% sure one of stock videos in it has the smutbase aunt cass model in it
