This aerial embroidery mixed media landscape is the last piece currently still available on my site! The natural elements were done in embroidery, the man-made ones in card. Each cargo container is only a mm wide! You can see it with full details here: victoriaroserichards.co.uk/work/cargo-c...

2/2 The close-ups of my wildfire embroidery. I tried to get a glowing effect with the fire and embers with colours I chose. I cut up my favourite cardigan for the rough charred ground as it was the only fabric I had with the right colour and texture but its not needed in this heat anyway...

'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

30 hours of sewing so far... lots and lots of French knots but some of the grass areas are now being filled too! If you didn't see the first post, this is an aerial embroidery inspired by moorlands. At this point I still can't estimate how long it'll take in full but I'm not half way yet 😊🌱

The start of a new large aerial embroidery landscape! It'll be a French knot-heavy project inspired by moorlands with more muted, moody colours. As you can see from the marks, I don't have a concrete plan... somewhat deciding what I want to include as I go. This is the first 10 hours of work!

2/3 ... While I was away, I made two new pieces, including this little aerial landscape and I spent many many hours focussed on this teeny tiny French knots! I found it very soothing and therapeutic while I wasn't in a good headspace ... (see last post in thread)

Sorry, I went MIA for a month on here... the heatwave made me feel very ill and then I had a mental health relapse and ended up avoiding social media since early July. I'm back on my SSRIs now and feeling much more myself again!! Much clearer and ready to be back online (see thread) 1/3 ...

'Arrival and departure' - my first time incorporating a city dock into my aerial embroidery! I used card art for the manmade elements, textiles for natural. Each cargo container is about 0.7 x 2 mm :) Plus some boats collecting/depositing them! Now here: victoriaroserichards.co.uk/collection/a...

Holkham beach, Norfolk - I was commissioned by someone to replicate this beautiful beach and all its shades and textures as an aerial embroidery! Lots of grasses, reeds and mud mixed in with the sand. Not sure if the tide in coming on or going out though... More close-ups are in the thread: 1/2

I've added my orchard and allotment themed landscape into a hoop frame I've had for a long while and I love how it looks! I think I may have to sell this aerial embroidery along with it, I think its such a perfect match for the landscape 😊 what do you think?

3/3 Still, I'm glad I could recreate it for someone and got to learn about it. The commissioner loved green is all its shades so lots of variation was included. This aerial embroidery was complex at times but I think it was well worth it! :)

2/3 ... so the building area has been somewhat simplified so as to not overwhelm the fields. It's now being shut down after the USDA recently decided to cut agricultural and forest research, and its closure is expected to negatively affect a lot of research areas, including honeybees.

'Beltsville Agricultural Research Centre', Maryland - I was privately commissioned to memorialise the BARC by a past employee after learning it will be shut down by the USDA after over 100 years of research. They wanted to focus of this aerial embroidery to be the field plots... 1/3 (see thread)

2/2 The whole landscape, 4.5 x 10 inches in size! Its not the best photo - I think its the camera lens but its the only one I currently have. I really need to get better at photography 😅 This knitting and embroidery aerial was great to experiment with, I already have fresh ideas for future pieces!

'A simple (perfect) life' - my spring landscape is finally finished! An apple orchard in bloom, old railway, sheep with their lambs and an allotment being prepared for growing :) Zoom in to see all the other tiny details too... I think this might be my favourite aerial embroidery I've ever done!

My apple orchard in bloom... and rusty old train tracks above it! This is my first time doing tracks on an aerial embroidery and I'm pretty happy with the effect; the flowering trees were a chore but I'm happy with them too! The last element to add is the allotment to the left 🥕🥬🌱 #landscape

My current aerial embroidery landscape in progress... a spring apple orchard closely inspired by one close to where I grew up in Devon! The area to the left will be an allotment 🥕🍅🥬 I'm so glad spring is finally here!! I went to the local pond this morning and watched the tadpoles swimming around :)

'Rose Hill garden' - I was in the mood to embroider another geometric garden and went with summer roses for this one. Colourful and bright! Combining knitting with my aerial embroidery... I knitted a base, which was then attached and sewn over to create a wild meadow 🌱🌼 the first of hopefully a series of landscape experiments using this method! I wanted to create more variety than my usual cotton bases. Zoom in to see the flowers :)

'Island Lake, California' - an aerial embroidery commission from last September I haven't shared yet! The right hand side was a nightmare at times, very busy with textures and elements and odd shapes. I hope it came out effective though? I don't have much experience in rocky landscapes :)
