Can you spot anything unusual about this picture from #TheAberdeenCollection? The match is @afc.co.uk v Motherwell at Pittodrie 6th May 1989.
It was grand to meet @therealskeneo.bsky.social at Pittodrie yesterday and chat about fitba from our formative years and players from Bobby Clark to Brian Irvine. Thank you so much for adding to #TheAberdeenCollection especially things we haven't seen before. Just imagine what's still be out there!
This arrived into #TheAberdeenCollection the other day. Presumably comes from when @afc.co.uk had that grand run in the League Cup culminating with a 2-0 win in the Final over Dundee. Probably not many of these going round - unless you know different...
Here's an oddity from #TheAberdeenCollection The line-up is for Hamilton Accies - possibly anticipated by the @afc.co.uk coaches before the match at Douglas Park on 23rd January 2019 afcheritage.org/matches/matc.... Maybe to catch the players' attention at a team talk? All part of the rich story.
We thought that the RDS opening pennant was the biggest in #TheAberdeenCollection but no, this Ajax one is even bigger. It was brought back from the @afc.co.uk winter camp on the Algarve where we played the Amsterdamers in a friendly match www.afcheritage.org/matches/matc...
This is a winners' medal won by former @afc.co.uk captain Frank Dunlop when he played for Benburb F.C. in the Elder Cottage Hospital FA Cup Final 1934-35 It is now a part of #TheAberdeenCollection cared for by @afcheritage.bsky.social
Here's a bit of @afc.co.uk Pittodrie history that is carefully stored in #TheAberdeenCollection one of many hundreds. This is one of the bigger pennants, if not the biggest we've got.
There must be masses of variants of pennants for this event. Here's a couple we recently catalogued into #TheAberdeenCollection Gothenburg probably has more souvenirs relating to it than any other @afc.co.uk event...
Another grand reading day when a new edition of @blackandgoldmag.bsky.social hits #TheAberdeenCollection great work by @peterelliott71.bsky.social and the diverse group of contributors. No wonder @afc.co.uk likes to wax lyrical about #TheRedArmy
This pennant is in #TheAberdeenCollection but we don't know anything about it, not even if it is football related. Anybody got any ideas? It may come from a match that one of the @afc.co.uk teams played or could have been gifted by a visitor.
There two @eveningexpress.bsky.social giveaway @afc.co.uk pictures from 1968 just dropped into #TheAberdeenCollection - It's the first time we have come across them so we don't currently know how many were published. No doubt a fellow Dandy will have chapter and verse to enighten us.
On 15th September 1987 @afc.co.uk were on UEFA Cup duty at Dalymount Park. A tight tie where they only drew 0-0 with a 1-0 follow up at Pittodrie. Still, a nice embroidered pennant was received into #TheAberdeenCollection and the trip to Dublin was great for the fans.
In June 1956 the touring @afc.co.uk party played a match against a Saskatchewan Select, running up a score of 17-0. The spoering Canadiand presented the Dons with this memento of our visit and it is now a part of #TheAberdeenCollection and remains on show in the Boardroom to this day.
The @afc.co.uk UEFA Cup tie against Dynamo Dresden at Pittodrie wasn't a memorable one, but Dynamo did present the Dons with a nice double-sided pennant that now resides within #TheAberdeenCollection - one of many hundreds standing patiently by for the chance to go on show whenever we can manage it.

This is one of the thousands of photos in #TheAberdeenCollection but what is going on? Was it for an advert or just the photographer playing around? We don't know yet.
Graeme Shinnie just went into the @afc.co.uk All-Time Top 25 appearances at #25 alongside John McMaster.

Great to see the Young Dons of @afc.co.uk bringing home one of the World's most magnificent trophies. And her is the man who donated it in 189o (and the one from 1887 that was handed to the original Aberdeen to keep after they won the first two tournaments.)
