Just snapped this photo of a plane in the fog of wildfire above a block of solar panels at my kids school and it feels like a pic for the background cover art of a book about climate change — all that’s missing is the big black bold text with the name of the book in the gray hazy space
Dear @bostonglobe.com headline writers: I THINK you mean “when will the sky stop looking so ominous” but it SOUNDS like you mean when will the world end
My kiddo came home from the library with this awesome book! A little late for Pride but nevertheless!
I am at @portersqbooks.bsky.social to hear from @juliaangwin.com and @fieldsmeyer.com for their book talk “On Courage” in conversation with Samantha Power! I am so excited to hear from them — it’s a packed house!
Today spent some of the morning skimming different pieces of John Adams political writings. One thing that was striking to me was the notion that by having a Senate and a House, you would have the aristocratic tendency checked/balanced by the House and the populist tendency checked by the Senate.
I’m at the MA State House today to learn about the Mass Babies Coalition, a new effort from MSPCC and others, to advocate on mental health and well-being needs of young children (prenatal to 6) and their families. It’s a packed house!! #mapoli
This article is fine, I guess. But it is missing 1 BIG THING: asking Healey/her campaign what *she* views as her signature achievement. Saying “voters don’t know”/don’t think she has one is interesting. More interesting is finding out the gap! www.bostonglobe.com/2026/06/16/m... #mapoli
On LinkedIn they say they have between 201-500 employees total. So even assuming the max of 500 employees that’s quite the reduction in workforce…(story of journalism, writ large of course)
When a million think pieces ask “why are people leaving Massachusetts” it’s often tempting to find a novel/new or ideologically aligned answer (the Millionaires tax!). But the answer is obvious … people just cannot afford to live here.
Thank you for the link! I think I get to be number 7, unless somebody beat me to it! Looking forward to reading. (I purchased from my local favorite bookshop Porter Square Books, proof in screenshots here.)
It took AWHILE to chew on this one but ultimately got me the right answer
The key is to ask for it in Spanish - that will help you define this French word
Oh you mean that the guy who shows up to the office dressed like this is having personnel issues?
This is an example of excellent local reporting! Way to go to the Marblehead Independent for finding that guy, interviewing him and getting the profile up right away -- and then tagging this note onto the end of the interview. www.marbleheadindependent.com/ways-to-supp...
A thing some antisemites do is say stuff that sounds “uncontroversial” or even “liberal” to get shared by big accounts. They build an audience by mixing horrid ideology with “reasonable” stuff. A certain % of folks will be influenced by their hate once they begin following. Look up who you quote!
Was just thinking about Dan Shaughnessy who himself wrote about not reading too much into Gams 1 and then in the same column ended his column reading too much into Game 1!
I’m not, like, a frequent critic of Obama. But I do wish that there is something that he and other leaders would urge people to do in *addition* to voting, especially when the action of the Supreme Court is specifically geared at undermining the efficacy of voting itself.
I SO wanted this Pritchard 3 to go in at the end of the half….. #Celtics
