👇 If Israel had lost the 1948 war.... (Palestinian identity is real, but it is also very new.)
This is real - screenshotted it myself. (Then blocked the pasty lowlife. wtf)
Oh, believe me, baby, those levels have arrived. Jews are getting spat on, beat up, and killed all across America.
The incredible trick the Palestinians have managed to pull off is to convince the world that they're a minority fighting for freedom against a colonial oppressor, and not a part of one of the largest empires in history intent on extinguishing a tiny, unique, ancient, native civilization.
@eurosky.social I migrated over to eurosky.social but my profile pic and banner seem not to have come along, and I can't seem to fix it. I get this:
This is an actual string of words that was said to @reckless.bsky.social on his podcast and Nilay just... let it go, and I haven't been the same since.
Open antisemitism retweeted by a major media account. That's where we are with not only Bluesky but the entire "progressive" movement.
Blueskyism is casually dropping an antisemitic dogwhistle and knowing it'll be an effective clout signal.
I honestly can't tell whether you're joking or not, because there are people who really believe that.
And the first group *the Guardian* decides to name as potentially benefiting from the "police antiracism commitment" is... the Jews. My god are they good at what they do. "Let's divert the resentment towards the people WE, we at the Guardian, know ACTUALLY deserve it."
Congratulating oneself for failing to raise freelancer rates for five years smh
Translation: We are raising our prices. You can either pay more to keep what you have, or keep the same price for an enshittified version of what you have. Pay your rent, peasant.
The amount of pure social signalling I see academics doing suggests to me that there are threats to the integrity of science greater than the fact that most science is done by people from the "global north".
This is spectacular. The sweeping pronouncements on Israel, followed by an admission that you know nothing about the place, followed by the condescension of "I suggest you remedy that". What a sequence - more than screenshot-worthy. And now GFY, Helen.
Are you Jewish, Helen? If not, maybe have the wisdom and decency to just NOT have something to say.
Then again, you have managed to maintain your career at SOAS, so what you have to say on this is filtered through what that fact tells someone who knows how THAT works.
Here's what I wrote about you, Ben Phillips. Now go fuck yourself.
the poverty of american democracy today. as long as the jew-hating rapist won't support the current fascist in the executive branch, you've got to accept him as good enough for the legislative, no other questions asked.
"Actual" antisemitism is always the kind of antisemitism the in-group you want to belong to will let you condemn.
...and now I know that she saw my post, and with that, mission accomplished. Call it petty of me, but she makes me very angry.
There's a certain kind of Jew who thinks mocking one's own identity in public is a clever way to perform pride in that identity while signalling broader social acceptability. Well it's not. It's undignified. It's also dishonourable to mock your own people for the sake of broader acceptance.
Deleted bcs realised I had my newsletters mixed up; this isn't Politico but Euractiv where Wax has been for a while already. Still first cup of coffee. But it's all the more surprising from Euractiv tbh. At least the subheader gets it right, to be fair - VDL "says it like it is", which she did.
