Your map reminds us of an almost forgotten revolution cruelly crushed by Lukashenko. Belarus is an outlier is the Russian field of influence and control, once he is gone Belarus will look West again.
Great docu on BBC 4 on Miles Davis. As a non musician I’m in awe of those who play. My first love was jazz and the ability to improvise and the most extraordinary example was Miles score for this film. As he watched the film he improvised the entire music track, perfectly mirroring Malle’s intent.
substack.com/@johnmcphie3... Back in the day there was no Israel but there was Palestine.
Another from Rick Wilson in @bylinetimes.bsky.social What makes our relationship ‘special’ is that both UK and US have torched their respective economies, UK by Brexit, US by Trump tariffs. No other country is following our example. Our esteem is diminished, our reputations trashed, that’s special.
Banged to rights, suspension, recall, defeat! The last we see of this nasty grifter.
Anyone else deeply embarrassed by this ludicrous pantomime? Britain could be a modern progressive democracy that doesn’t rely on tradition but on the spirit and endeavour of its people. We rely on the past when we should be looking to the future. @republiccampaign.bsky.social
@cristianpintos.com I see you are in Xabia, so you will know this run, fabulous views from the Cap
Just having a coffee and realised I was not alone. (South Cambridgeshire)
My petition to stop the King’s visit to America was rejected on the spurious grounds that it cannot accept petitions on individuals. But this is nonsense the petition was about government policy sending him there, the King is going at Starmer’s insistence not as an individual.
On SkyArts last night a great documentary. Just imagine a band with Clapton, Beck and Page well that was it. From blues to prog, the most influential band of all time.
At the Royal Academy in London a wonderful exhibition of an almost unknown 17C female artist Michaelina Wautier. Apart from her formal portraits are these wonderful images of two boys, one sniffing a rotten eg, the other wincing after cutting his finger. Such intimate images are unprecedented.
The President chose his spiritual advisor because of her modesty, her humility, her compassion, her expertise in christian doctrinal matters and because he liked her tits.
Nigel Farage declares he will never leave Clacton and will donate his entire income to its new museum celebrating diversity and inclusion
The roof of London King’s Cross station is a thing of beauty as well as an engineering masterpiece and best appreciated when the station is (almost) empty.
