Tattooed on my right arm is this image below a mandala. The mandala is found in eastern philosophies but also in Gothic cathedrals such as Chartres representing a circular inward journey of prayer and contemplation. The symbols remind me that God is greater than the highs and lows of life.
We live in a troubled world… but one where there is exquisite beauty. Let me share this view which resets anxiety and reminds me that “All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well," originates from the 14th-century English mystic, Julian
How good that would be ! A prime minister who prioritises the most vulnerable!
As temperatures soar and we ponder climate change we should consider that, in Genesis, God put us in the garden to work and take care of it. The Hebrew word for work is abad which means “to serve” and the words used for “take care of” is shamar implying “watchful preservation”. @BBCNews
Glorious loss has always been our specialty! The Scottish National motto is “nemo me impune lacessit” which means no one attacks with impunity. Sadly it does not mean that no one beats us!
Let’s make it a Count Binface moment! Too many politicians are taking inappropriate cash from the entitled rich. Let voters of Clacton show their contempt for such dishonesty and vote for Binface!!
Today is World Refugee Day. 117million people (40% <18yrs old) are currently displaced from their homes by war, famine, climate change effects or violence. We are told to rescue the weak and needy. (Deut 82,v4). Let’s use today to springboard kindness in our lovely, troubled world! www.un.org
The violent response to violence is self defeating. We are called to be peacemakers and to face violence with restorative love. This is foolishness. @theguardian.com
It is such a great privilege to be working with the Street Pastors in Bristol! We pick up bottles, sweep up glass, chat to the partygoers and homeless and bring help to those that need it. www.instagram.com/bristolstree...
To be absolutely clear, the riots in Southampton have NO link to Christianity and represent unadorned racism. Christians are commanded to “ love your neighbour as yourself”!
The science is clear: El Niño is arriving on our doorstep in the coming months with 90% certainty,' said UN Secretary–General António Guterres. Time for mature politicians to stand up and take action !
Excellent philosophy/cosmology and music festival. Just spent 1 hr hearing about the stochastic parrot that is current AI with Hilary Lawson and Karl Friston. Lots of discussion on how to get better AI but sadly no talk of why this may or may not be a good thing. Wisdom needed!
Lord Foulkes is correctly castigating the BBC for stirring up chaos outside Downing St. while ignoring corruption in political funding of Reform. Wes Streeting has resigned and put his personal ambition above the NHS. Cool heads needed !
I am not a member of any political party but it was refreshing to hear Zack Polanski (Green Party leader) answering the questions clearly and responding with politeness and courtesy to Laura K.
The River Avon a couple of miles from Bristol. What a beautiful world we have !
On 8th April 1945, theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was hanged, aged 39 yrs, in Flossenburg Concentration camp. He wrote; “The will of God …..is that men should defeat their enemies by loving them.” (The Cost of Discipleship) This is wisdom our current political leaders should ponder on!
This lovely picture of our beautiful planet was taken from Artemis II last week. How important it is for us to cherish both our planet and each other!
There is something awesome and beautiful about waves thundering onto the shore. This is the lovely north coast in County Antrim.
Beautiful Bristol highlights the awfulness of suicide in this powerful artwork on Jacob’s Wells Rd. Placed there in 2020 to commemorate Suicide Prevention Day. It is called, “Bear with Me”…..
This is the core message of the Christian faith that is often lost - absolutely nothing can separate us from God’s love!
There are many things I love about Bristol- including advertising that you are the last pub for 22 yards!
Today we celebrate Rosa Parks- born this day in 1913, we celebrate her humility and determination for racial justice. We need to also remember the wise counsel of Micah nearly 3 thousand years earlier who told us how we should behave- with justice, mercy and humility.
Beauty is all around us! Thanks to my friend Miffy for this picture of oil in a puddle in a car park in Bristol.
Donald Trump should be ashamed of himself and owes an apology to allied troops!
Aurora Borealis in beautiful Bristol - who would have thought it possible!
A very worrying analysis of the increased risk of war in Europe from veteran BBC journalist John Simpson. We desperately need mature and wise politicians to step forward to prevent such madness.
