New favorite sticker placement

Josef tapped one long finger on the wood between them. “I hear-” It was always “I hear” with Josef, the man had those fingers in every pie in the city, “-that Emperor Ruden, may the Church bless his reign, is setting up his own salon of artists and natural scientists and magicians.”
Ivanya blinked at him. “An imperial salon?” Her pulse hammered in her ears, and a flush spread over her cheeks. Back in their workshop, Chessie cursed again.
He winked at her, delighted. “I knew that would hook you! That contraption on your roof is hardly inconspicuous, yes? Your neighbors are quite curious. Frieda mentions it every time I see her!”
Frieda was the half-widow down the lane, a round-bodied woman of middle years and great religious devotion, with a vast garden of Church-approved roses in every shade imaginable. She and her remaining husband Curt were outdoors tending her little flock of flowers most of the day and some of the evening, and despite her work and the religious chants she sang tunelessly, Frieda’s black eyes missed nothing.
Ivanya’s shoulders curled in. Talk of Frieda always made her want to hide. “It’s just a mechanism to watch the movement of the stars.” Her chest felt tight, and she cleared her throat.
After a moment of awkward silence, Josef went on. “Of course, Mer Ivanya, of course! And it’s the very reason I knew I had to tell you about the salon.” He winked. “Wouldn’t it be a feather in the city’s cap to have a scientist in the emperor’s salon? Or, dare I say it, two?” He nodded towards the entrance to the kitchen and the workroom beyond.

There, the soft rustle of vines carrying the sedan chair fashionable with the nouveau riche. A merchant, then, or perhaps an engineer who’d grown the vineservant themself. And over it all, the low-pitched susurrus of fluid flowing through the xylem and phloem of the Lilypad itself, the great green structure that arced over and beneath her and enclosed them all in a bubble of light and warmth nearly fifty thousand kilometers above the surface of Foss-Karan. Berenike inhaled slowly, letting the spicy scent of greenery ease her nerves. Her surroundings came back into focus as anxiety sheathed its claws.
