Today's the day. My stomach is fizzing with a combination of approximately 30% nerves, & 70% unbridled excitement for you all to finally see this. Tonight. YouTube. 6pm UK time. It's been a long time coming...not quite 200 years, but it sure feels like it 😁💖
After the most wonderful day out yesterday at the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton, I've been enjoying a much-needed peaceful morning today. As for what books to read over a cuppa tea? Well after yesterday, I've got quite a few new ones to choose from...
Heads up - we'll be going LIVE on www.twitch.tv/heyitsajomega at 6pm UK time this evening for more Tea & Trains! Where are we going? Back to the eighties, on @trainsimworld.com's brand new route - Crewe-Preston '86! (Don't worry, we *should* be done by the time the footie starts...)
It's Le Mans weekend. Legit one of my favourite weekends of the entire year. I'm comfy on the sofa. Drinks and snacks are in the fridge. Pizza for dinner. And as has been tradition for the last 16 years, I've got @radiolemans.bsky.social guiding me through. Bliss. I love this race. 💖
One big problem I've had with making videos again, is how the rooms I used to be able to record voiceovers in are much more echoey now, & would require lots of acoustic panels & such to treat them. So what to do in the meantime? Make my laundry room into an improvised vocal booth, of course 😅🎙️
For as long as I've followed NASCAR, one man has been a huge part of it. One tenacious, tempestuous, feisty & fiercely competitive man. A brash persona with amazing talent to match, & often the biggest heel in the sport. Loved & hated, but always respected. Gone far too soon. Rest in power, KFB.
Because when a Bulleid Pacific comes to visit, I can't miss it. That's the rule. 💚
Instead of What 90s Goalkeeper, I've ended up going with What 90s Racing Car - Sting is a 1997 British Touring Car Championship Renault Laguna! (As seen in the first TOCA Touring Cars game on PS1!)
Apparantly, writing a bio for social media is the hardest thing ever for me. Who knew? Anyway, I think I'm happy with this one. For now.
A day that starts with a Bulleid Pacific on a railtour, ends with a second railtour, & features drinks & time spent with @jetlbomb.bsky.social, are officially the best days you can possibly have. 🚂💖
Friday was my first time at the Twin Peaks Gala, joint hosted by the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway & Peak Rail. Genuinely, one of the best days I've ever had at any heritage railway gala. Perfect weather. Lush scenery. Two lines packed with history & charm. Impeccable vibes all round ☺️☀️
I'd be SO here for that. The obvious choice would be for a road course race, but he's actually got some short track experience too - he actually started out racing Ministox on short ovals here in the UK.
Amazing what a little sunshine, & some fresh spring air, can do for the body & brain. After what felt like an eternity of cold, wet, dark & miserable days, I could genuinely feel the weight of the winter SADs lifting off my shoulders just a tiny bit today. We're almost there, pals. 💖☀️
Must say, I wasn't expecting to see a US skier at the Winter Olympics named after how I'm feeling today... #WinterOlympics
Back in 2006, I remember being off school, laid up in bed with a cold, watching the Winter Olympics. Twenty years later, we're in a similar situation again. Guess it's just a tradition at this point. 😅🤒 #WinterOlympics
I still remember staying up late with my folks to watch Amy Williams win skeleton gold in 2010 like it was yesterday. Then we had hometown legend Lizzy Yarnold going back-to-back in '14 & '18. Tonight, Matt Weston joined that illustrious list. Well done, lad. 💖🇬🇧 #WinterOlympics
Tea, biccies, train book, blankie, & hot water bottle. Racing on the laptop & #WinterOlympics on the telly box. All this after a lovely day yesterday, featuring besties, pizza, & wins for both AFC Wimbledon and the England rugby team. If Carlsberg did weekends. 💖❄️
So throughout January, Key Publishing were running a pretty huge sale, where loads of their books - including lots of railway books - were discounted down to sub-£3 each. I may have taken advantage of this sale, somewhat...
Just as I decide to start using Instagram a bit more again, I get this. Err, no thanks. I'm good. Anyone else getting this?
Fun fact; the very first thing me & my buddies did when we arrived at Daytona last year, was go straight to the @aoracingusa.bsky.social stall & pick up a bunch of merch - including this chap. It's only fitting that he watches the race this year with me, right? 🦖💖 #Rolex24
This has always been one of my favourite racing weekends of the year. But given that this time one year ago, I was actually *at* Daytona in person? Utterly immersed in the sights & sounds of this amazing race? Watching it on my sofa hits a lil' different this year. Happy #Rolex24 weekend pals 🏁
Oh, and I just remembered one good thing that happened in 2016. Robot Wars came back. That's it. 😁
First adventure of the new year, and what a great place to start - a bitterly cold and frosty Severn Valley Railway, for their Winter Steam Gala! Because what else would you want from such cold weather, than a bunch of nice, warm kettles doing a heckin' big chuff 🚂🫖
