I am terrible at affirmations and positive self-talk, but one thing I said to myself a bunch of times yesterday was just, “I am swimming a marathon today.” It helped. Recommend something bland & declarative for anyone else who shares this particular deficit.

A side effect of pull-ups: I can do some monkey bars, and these things, when they’re tall enough.

(The cat hangs out on our deck on a leash & harness. Her main occupation is napping. Though she did do a little eck-eck after a period of bird harassment.)

This is *one week* of marathon swim training. Like dear god

My friend gave me some passionflowers, which are unsurprisingly toxic to cats; i am floating them in lidded mason jars, which feels a bit like plant jail

We did my favourite local swim today around kʷʊθaysqɛn (Myrtle Rocks), in the ocean. It was very choppy and a bit of a challenge & exceedingly fun.

Swam in a new lake with the idea that I’d maybe go for 5 or even 6km. Then remembered that anytime I swim somewhere new I have to devote a lot of energy to convincing my brain that we are not dying 👍

Mackerel’s spending one more night at the vet & my gym buddy got called out to a fire so I went on a walk & made some raspberry whipped cream. (It’s on ice cream but it’d be so good for an icebox cake.)
