I've got one more plot left in me before I leave this dead horse alone. Two day T/Td time series from ISU Soil Moisture network Kanawha (near Algona) (literal ag field), Ames ASOS, and Algona AWOS. Two subplots show physically explainable processes, the other does not.
Shouting into the ether here, but am back to again tap down the 90°F dew point talk over Iowa earlier this week. Lots going on here with this plot, but it isn't corn, it is just bad data. Don't overthink it.
Here's what I come up with for appending all previous Julys onto this July and seeing which percentage beat July 2012 for Denver. 4.5% chance.

Sioux City, IA SUX (great icao btw), tied its reported dew point record yesterday evening at 83°F. Today, it is running a degree or two warmer at this hour, so perhaps this record is in jeopardy this afternoon, but perhaps moisture pooling with the storm complex yesterday helped more than corn :/
Des Moines with a current reading of T:96°F / Td:80°F is the hottest air temperature I have on record for the site with a coincident 80+°F dew point. Des Moines earlier hit 81°F, which is one degree off the unofficial record I calculate.

Totally bummed to be in Florida on vacation and my neighbor got to measure 8.40" in my CoCoRaHS gauge from this deluge just NE of Des Moines Friday morning. That should have been me adding up all those partial empties of the outer cylinder into the inner cylinder!! So jealous!
