my friends spot doppelgangers of me out in the wild so often that i have a stock joke about it, but this one takes the cake -- that's just a straight up CLONE, what the hell
got home from evanston a little bit ago to find this happened in my neck of rogers park
Took this about 30 seconds after reparking my car from a block away, where it was a) nearly submerged to its bumper and b) a few cars away from a downed tree
NEW: Evanston could vote in November on an issue as old as the city itself — Northwestern's exemption from property taxes. Three alders are proposing an advisory referendum that clearly targets NU's plan to host concerts at the new Ryan Field, and the full council will vote on it this Monday.
quick check in on the Job Market Experience™ courtesy of my partner:
The average auto-transcription error (excluding poor audio quality) is on the level of turning "Evanston" into "Edmonton." Basic human attentiveness solves for this. Meanwhile, the average summary tool error is getting basic details wrong and making everything it hears into "action items."
That's not what I'm seeing, this is the relevant section changing public transportation hubs from SA3. This is the change that reels in how many bus hubs there will be in Evanston (and if it somehow isn't, then I am not looking forward to my first ever story retraction lol)
Reviewing old meeting notes to refresh myself on something and ah yes, thank you past Alex, very cool
Even on vacation in Oregon, I can't escape the shadow of ✨city planning✨
Even if we're generous and say this guy is talking about Evanston making it free for residents, it's still not a fair comparison since Chicago beach access has always been free for everyone, regardless of residence. Meanwhile, Evanston's beach tokens are up to $85 per summer outside of Skokie...
Everything else aside, this bit is incorrect re: Evanston. The city charged everyone for both beach access and lakefront parking until 2022, when both were made free for Evanston residents. They still charge non-residents (outside Skevanston at least) for both, and the parking is $3.75/hr.
fuck it, new pfp time (this one courtesy of RT photographer Rich Cahan!)
Update: we were nosy and walked over lol Apparently someone lit a fire in the garbage can, firefighters came and put it out. Got this photo from the beach as we were walking as they were extinguishing it
Seen from a breakwater in Rogers Park: is someone lighting a fire on the lighthouse?
At Lunt/Greenview in Rogers Park: massive CFD presence, two ladders extending to the roof of an apartment building, heavy smell of smoke. Neighbor says there was (is?) a fire in the bldg and they're cutting through the roof
getting to the time of year when i can comfortably take the train to night meetings
