Atheist, feminist, liberal, chocoholic Londoner into TV, theatre, art, music, non-fiction books, sitting on the sofa & a large dollop of sweary anti-fascist politics. Oh, and obviously, I hate Trump. I also hate salted caramel* *unrelated
My new pink Clark's flip-flops should be arriving today. Although the courier is Evri, so it's anyone's guess...
Good morning. I'm going to do nothing today. I'm going to be very diligent about it.
I've got a dentist appointment later because I've had a manky tooth incident. I'm absolutely terrified of the dentist's drill, so I can see a lot of anguish in my near future. Checks date: Yep, a Monday and the 13th.
Sooty also bullied Sweep. There was no end to his depravity. I'm just waiting for Sue to MeToo him.
I went to see #TheMisanthrope at @nationaltheatre.org.uk this evening. A really engaging play, I perceived to be about shallowness, authenticity, trust and the awfulness of people who are all essentially self-serving.
I went to see The Guilty at the @donmarwarehouse.bsky.social this evening. Short but packed a punch. And because it was short, I got to do some grocery shopping on the way home, which was better than doing it in the heat of the day. Positives all round.
I remember travelling on the tube just after the first Covid lockdown was relaxed. I was the only one in the carriage. It somehow symbolised the whole experience of what had been happening. A whole story in one picture
As expected, my hanging basket flowers got over their drama queen fit from last night's storm and have gone back to being appropriately perky.
My weather app seems to have reduced the forecast for the end of the week by a significant amount. Thursday for London was originally predicted to be 38°. Result.
The flowers in my hanging basket are expressing their disgust at last night's epic storm. Although they are divas, so I expect they'll perk up later today.
I forgot to mention, last night I went to see #ElvisCostello in concert. Excellent, as ever. Chris Difford as support was also excellent. A good night. @nndroid.bsky.social spot the audience member 🙂
I just got a personalised Reform communication stuffed through my letter box. The horror! I defaced it, as is only right. I'm particularly pleased with my worm wearing a hat erupting through his stomach, Alien-style.
I can't get over how bananas my Christmas cactus has gone. I've had it over 2 years with the odd leaf growth - but this...!!!
I've got the door to the garden open and ALL the giant, buzzy flies are flying in and having a party. I'm mostly live and let live when it comes to wildlife, but could they buzz just a little bit quieter?! Also, ornamental fox from the garden centre because...I'm me.
My Christmas cactus is flowering now. It's very pretty (in its own freaky way) so I'm ignoring its confused internal calendar dysfunction.
I've taken today off work as I'm going to the Tate Modern to see the Tracy Emin exhibition. I love Tracy Emin's art. The gift shop will be ransacked.
South Park's silent Melania ghoul has so imprinted on me, it's a shock when I hear her speak.
I bought both the daffs and the tulips as tight buds. They've gone all out on the blooming!
