An Ohio man is facing charges after he allegedly caused a commotion at the
UPMC Jameson Hospital emergency room.
Patrick W. Preston, 61, of Newbury, Ohio, allegedly struggled with police when they tried to arrest him around 10 p.m. Friday, according to a police criminal complaint. He reportedly was in the emergency room with a family member.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of simple assault, resisting arrest, defiant trespass and disorderly conduct. Police reported that he was yelling, and he fought with the police and UPMC security after he was asked by security to leave the emergency department.
Police alleged in the complaint that he grabbed a city police officer's shirt and pushed him. As police got him onto the floor, Preston allegedly struck the right side of his face off the floor. He was rolling back and forth to avoid being handcuffed, the report said, and an officer used a stun gun to subdue him before handcuffing him. He was placed in a cruiser, then returned to the emergency room for treatment of a cut near his eye.
According to city police chief Bobby Salem, Preston was transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital for further treatment. The hospital was instructed to notify the police upon his release but failed to do so, Salem said. As a result, a warrant has been issued for Preston's arrest.

I put this in another thread a few days ago, and pardon me for the sloppy slope here, (I didn't have 2016 numbers -only 2008 and '20, '24, & '26 elections) but the trendlines here in Geauga County are rabidly anti-party. Everyone is an independent now, I guess 🤷‍♀️

In 2026, independents are at ~70%, GOP ~25%, and Dems barely on the board. (In our specific case, the dropoff in Dems is due to a spectacular failure by county Dem leadership. Shocking, I know.) But the GOP drop is all on them.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested online political writer D.J. Byrnes, also known as The Rooster, at the statehouse on June 1 on a misdemeanor warrant.
A patrol spokesman said Byrnes, who posts his stories to his Substack subscribers, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail, records show. The patrol did not provide further details.
Byrnes' colleague, Max Littman, said he believes the arrest is related to Byrnes texting photos of cartoon character Shrek's penis to a state senator.
"If that is in
fact true, that he was arrested over that, then it's blatant targeting a political opponent and journalist," Littman said.

I've been told @rooster.info has been detained at the statehouse. A source sent the video showing DJ leaving with Ohio State Troopers earlier this afternoon. No word yet on whether he's been charged, or what his status is right now.
