Have you ever had that feeling where you recognize that something isn’t exactly what you seek out for in media, but you can appreciate that it’s done well in its niche? That’s how I feel about "Picture Day."

This isn’t exactly the type of indie rock I go out of my way to seek out, but since it’s here, I’ll appreciate that it’s really well made. And that’s especially true for a self-released debut. It’s pretty formulaic as a result of sticking to its genre, but I doubt that anyone who listens to this type of music will be disappointed in that.

Favorite tracks: Smoke Break, A Reasonable Intro for This Album

Least favorite track: A Severance Novella

April 10 [MUSIC, ALBUM] ALL FOR YOU by Janet Jackson (2001) One of the most summery albums I've ever heard. I had to actively remind myself multiple times that R&B songs from around this time just liked to linger around on the beat lmao Score: 3.5/5

This fits the definition of a “summer album” so well that anyone could easily mistake it for coming out this year and trying to compete for the song of the summer. I know it was to help Janet pivot from the dour tone of "The Velvet Rope," and it does it really well and in a super varied way. It’s not super filling, but it’s nice and fluffy pop and R&B (minus the literal sex song).

Funny enough, "All for You" had to remind me about how R&B was made around this time. Many times in this album, I had to ask myself why the song kept on going when it seemed like it was just repeating itself (e.g. “You Ain’t Right”). Then I had to actively remind myself that this is just how older R&B songs are.

April 7 [MUSIC, ALBUM] HALO by Tiffany Day (2026) I say this in the most positive way possible: This is Dallas slop. Keep on putting this stuff in my trough while we power through this new electropop boom. I will eat shit like this up all day long. Score: 4.5/5

This is Dallas slop through and through, and I will eat this shit up every day with a grin. This is exactly the type of music I like, and it’s a good, new release during this boom of post-hyperpop electronic pop music. This album is loud and vulnerable in a super pleasing way; it’s one of the better "brat" clones out there (if you want to be cynical).

"Halo" doesn’t have the near-perfect composition that something like "WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA" has, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t an insanely impressive debut. Tiffany will be on my radar for a while now!

Least favorite track: TELL ME WHAT I DID
