Ret. Lieutenant Diane Goldstein says the growing distrust of ICE isn't happening by chance. During our virtual event, she argued that repeated failures, a lack of transparency, and impunity have left more Americans questioning whether ICE can carry out immigration enforcement professionally.
"Federal immigration agencies are currently holding themselves to lower standards than what is expected of local and state police" Ret. Lt. Goldstein shares that meaningful transparency and independent accountability aren't optional, they're the foundation of professional policing and public trust.
Mendota Heights Police Chief McCarthy said Operation Metro Surge has undermined years of community policing, making communities less safe. “... if we don’t do everything we can to send a clear message that this behavior is unconstitutional and harmful to every community, it will continue.”
