DC Indy Car trash or federal crime to touch? Unknown.

Massive Indy Car banners from last weekend‘s race are bunched and piled at the base of oak tree trunks on a DC city street after most of the rest of the nearby race detritus has been cleared away.

Washington DC is a very strange place to be living in right now.

My favorite piece from the Truman Lowe retrospective at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Photo of a piece of artwork called Skychart III created in 1986 by Truman Lowe. The piece is rectangular at its edges but contains four curved pieces of wood plus ten of what look like thin leaves. The curved pieces of wood are slender, and they cross over each other. There is a lot of open space in the piece, which is made of pine, peeled willow saplings, leather, and watercolor.

What I did on my summer vacation -- sailed the Greenland Sea past Jan Mayen on a very clear day.

Went to Vegas. Saw The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. Was wowed.

Reinvented scene from The Wizard of Oz in which Dorothy has arrived in Oz just after her house kills the Wicked Witch of the East. This clipart masterpiece I found online is supposed to be advertising vehicle rain guards.

Cake Man and I have beaten the saber-toothed tiger in the Paleo game! The screaming goat button was for any time someone said "We're gonna die." Remarkably, our soon-to-starve tribe was victorious!

The game table also holds multiple warrior cards, an array of tools, and the usual gamer accoutrements (Coke Zero, a screaming goat button, a paper rule book, and a phone to check the internet for any rules the book forgot to mention). About half of the game pieces are 3D-printed upgrades purchased from Etsy.

Remarkably, this is what our winning Spirit Island game board looked like. The bottom of the Fear deck couldn't come fast enough.

The Christmas poinsettias have been planted out back. What happens to the poinsettias throughout the summer is one of my favorite garden things.

Two poinsettia plants are in a springtime garden where a wooden fence meets a brick wall. The plants, which are still brightly colored in red and green, are in a considerable amount of shade. Pink petals that have fallen from a nearby flowering tree cover the soil around the poinsettias.

These shadows tied for my favorites of the week -- branches on the Potomac River and green lightning on a Pandemic Legacy Season 1 board.

After a mighty battle with the Immunologist scratch-off card, Dr. Emily Schmemily, Doc Dubious, Liz Dubious, and Colonel Mustard defeated Pandemic Legacy Season 1 - August.

I played Brass: Birmingham for the first time a few days ago. It was entertaining! The role of beer in the railroad phase is pretty hilarious. I managed to win the starter half-game. In the full game, I came in last but within 12 points of the winner. For me, these are major victories!
