This weekend I was in Bristol for my grandma’s celebration of life. Her party was next to the Clifton Suspension Bridge & I couldn’t leave the city without paying my disrespects to Edward Colston at M Shed.
I think this might be my favourite time of year. Just been swimming in the lake & picked some peonies from my garden 🌸

Back from a manic, but amazing 2 week research trip in Mexico for my book, The Eagle and the Snake: Creating the Conquest of Mexico that will be published by @reaktionbooks.bsky.social in 2027. This time yesterday I was at the ruins of the world’s biggest pyramid before heading to the airport.
My 5 year old NEVER wants to practice his reading or writing & claims to hate phonics, but he just sat down next to me & sounded this out as he wrote it, so I suppose I can take that as a win?
Do I hate that I sliced my thumb? Yes. Do I like the fact that I get to wear a Moomin plaster? Maybe.
